Using the browser without updating

Ok guys, so I bought myself a ps4 slim on black friday just to jump onto the scene!

I was tampering here and there with the system and I found a way around the PSN connection to use the browser. I have tested it with a ps4 slim in 4.01, baremetal. I don't know if this is old news, but I though you guys might like to have it written here.

Steps:
1. Deactivate Automatic Downloads and automatic installs in: Settings > System > Automatic Downloads
2. Connect to internet Wifi or LAN it doesn't matter
3. Go Settings > Network > View Status of Playstation Network services
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the G+ logo
5. In G+ page click the top search bar. You should reach G+ home.
6.I n G+ home page Press OPTION and refresh the page
7. in the top right should have appeared a google apps menu icon (9 dots), click it and click web search
8. You can now search whatever you want!
9. Disable again internet connection once you're done to avoid any furtive update downloads.

Youtube works as webpage this way. I was able to fully navigate through GBATemp.
I don't even have a PSN account yet. Useful? Time will say.

How exactly..... im stuck at the part 5

Where on the left page, HOME? I cant see the option..... I was able to access Youtube via the browser and it works fine but how to use the regular browser, the search option?

BTW tested with PS4 Pro on 3.70 firmware (bought it yesterday).

Try to search nothing in the g+ search page, then refresh the page with the option button. That browser doesn't let you search anything or change the url the normal way, but still let's you browse even in outdated systems. This guide tries to provide web searching within that browser.

Also, better to shut down internet connection afterwards. I'm gonna update the OP. Good to know the Pro still have this little 'feature'.

Pro on 3.70 is basically the same as Slim and Phat at 3.55 (interface, options etc). OFC im talking about the "visible" and not about the "under the hood".

If you want to block PS4 Updates / PSN access these are the host names to block on your router: PS4 Block Updates / Block Access To the PSN

Likewise if you want to mess about with the web browser a lot then you can do a host override For manuals.playstation.net, allowing you to easily get on to the internet by going to Settings > User Guide.

This is my guide for a 1.76 PS4, but the idea is the same. You could create a list of all your favorite websites and host that, along with hosting your own exploits when the time comes: PS4 Playground - Easily Hack / Exploit A 1.76 PS4 From Settings > User Guide

In ps4 if you have Setings > Network > Connect to Internet on and you step on a Update now/Update later mine, even if auto updates are disabled the latest update will start downloading in background (because you said "Update later" it prepares the update for you to update). You can stop and delete the download in the notifications section, but still better if you completely disconnect from internet.

@Xdqwerty, wire is definitely more practical IMO. Hell these days you can charge a laptop over USB, can't charge a laptop wirelessly though. Wireless chargers, even "fast" ones, are only good for slowly charging devices, plus they generate a good amount of heat too

Power banks can be incredible depending on your needs. 1) I have a 100w capable one that can charge my laptop. 2) Same one can also power my soldering iron (though is overkill for it) 3) a BIG power bank I have with an AC outlet on it can power my desktop weed vape during a power outage :rofl2:
