A full re-implementation of the vWii will never happen for the Switch imo.
The amount of work required to do something like that would not be worth it for poor performance GC/Wii games.

(Although I'd be more than happy to eat my words if someone actually does do it.)

WiiU was weaker than switch and had Wii and GC perfect support.
Because the WiiU had hardware parts from both the Wii and GC, which allows the games to run natively rather than having to be emulated.
The Switch doesn't have any of that.

Use switch in home streaming and stop making threads, I feel like I've been answering these questions for the past 4 days in a row "can I port halo" "can I play Wii U" "can I play ps2" "can I play wii" "can I play GameCube"

USE IN HOME STREAMING!

They are never getting emulated on switch because switch processor is lower than processors in mobile phones these days. Switch is old tech these days we have better processors built on 7nm, even a switch mid gen refresh will not be able to do so (like in terms of emulation there is not a big difference in ps4 and ps4 pro because processor is pretty much same) unless switch 2 comes out with 7nm processor.
PS2 and N64 can be hardly emulate on newly released android phones ie s9 ( which are way more powerful than switch ) so lets wait and see, and keep your hopes on NexGen not current Gen.

Don't be stupid, Switch came after Wii U. Wii U is the perfect retro console, plays GameCube and Wii flawlessly and has plenty of emulators for older consoles.

You should learn the difference when someone is making a joke or being serious. Lighten the F up this is just a forum for video games not the end of the world. Especially when it wasn't even directed to you. I bet you're fun, at parties.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Actually the switch barely has exclusives so far that are not available in a similar form on the wii u.

Wrong, Switch has over 1000 games and a bunch more coming. You're missing out, but each to his or her own.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
