Depends. On lower FWs there is still a possibility for coldboot and software solution. But who knows if TX will ever implement it.

Auto RCM install for coldboot is working in 5.1.0 with SX OS solution. No need to stay out of date.

I thought coldboot is possible with SX OS or not?

AutoRCM isn't the same as coldboot, but the functionality for the end user is similar. Besides, there have been many reports about problems with the battery after installing AutoRCM.

Im on 1.0.0 and im really tempted to update to play the latest games. I already use a jig to enter in SX, its easy and painless in my opinion.
But im holding back because of emuNAND. Hope this wait pays off in the near future!

Coldboot is booting a CFW directly, since autoRCM always need a payload.

But you can play every games. Emunand is great, but not ready yet.

Im really tempted to play Mario Odyssey (3.0.1). I have the original cart to update offline if needed.
As i said earlier, im on 1.0.0. Is there a point for me waiting longer for emunand or someway to "trick" the game to launch?

If you are on 1.0.0 don't update just for the sake of having the oldest, thus the rarest FW.

hmm weird, my switch odyssey bundle came with 3.01 but updates to 4x when i inserted the card. new sku?

For me, loading a payload every 32th of month is an acceptable choice.
Emunand, installation of SDXC driver and others are much more complicated.
