Ive got an English Book Report
and i can't figure out whats the point of view of that story
The story is "The Gentleman of the Jungle"

and these are some lines of the story...

Once upon a time an elephant made a friendship with a man. One day a heavy thunderstorm broke out, the elephant went to his friend, who had a little hut at the edge of the forest, and said to him: ‘My dear good man, will you please let me put my trunk inside your hut to keep it out of this torrential rain?’ The man, seeing what situation his friend was in, replied: ‘My dear good elephant, my hut is very small, but there is room for your trunk and myself. Please put your ‘trunk in gently.’ The elephant thanked his friend, saying: ‘You have done me a good deed and one day I shall return your kindness.’ But what followed? As soon as the elephant put his trunk inside the hut, slowly he pushed his head inside, and finally flung the man out in the rain, and then lay down comfortably inside his friend’s hut, saying: ‘My dear good friend, your skin is harder than mine, and as there is not enough room for both of us, you can afford to remain in the rain while I am protecting my delicate skin from the hailstorm.’

Thank you!

It's third

remember your pronouns that can denote part of speech.

For example...
The 1st line is "Once upon a time an elephant made a friendship with a man." which is 3rd person, but if it was written like "Once upon a time I made a friend with an elephant" then it would become 1st because it becomes obvious that the 'man' is telling his own story.

Though if any of the characters are telling the story it's 1st person...for example...the line could also be written as "I made a friend with a friend." I becomes the elephant, but since he is telling a story he was apart of it is still 1st person.

Hope I made that clear...I tend to lose people in my explanations.

A wise man (...or was it Ricky Gervais?) once said, "If a lion could speak, we would not be able to understand it."

Most fables with "speaking animals" simply personify the animals with humanistic points of reference and disregard "animalistic" points of views in lieu of a "moral" or "lesson learned" for the humans that are reading the story.

Although I have not read this story, I believe (from the example provided) that the author is attempting to convey the message that even simple requests can be easily misconstrued when neither the requester nor the requested is completely honest and forthright in their request and/or consent.

@Xdqwerty, Non-binary people are those who don't identify themselves exclusively as male or female.
