Hi people, i haven't played pokemon games since silver/gold. I would like to continue from where i left off.
I can't really remember if silver/gold were the same game but different colour, so is it worth playing both games that were released at the same time?
SO for example, should i play both Ruby and Sapphire, or just choose one as they are both the same? Also, should i skip pokemon black/white and go straight to black2/white 2?

Pokémon Crystal
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen
Pokémon Emerald
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl
Pokémon Platinum
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver
Pokémon Black and White
Pokémon Black 2 and White 2
Pokémon X and Y

FireRed/LeafGreen> Emerald> Platinum>HeartGold/SoulSilver> Black/White> Black/White 2> X/Y> OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire

You can skip the first two and start with Platinum if you want.

So i should pick one of the 2 games that were released at the same time, such as pick either ruby or sapphire and not play them both?

Correct, the only reason to get them both is to get the version exclusives but it's not really worth it in my opinion.

Thanks! By the way, are the re-makes exactly the same but with updated graphics, ect? or do they offer more then the original? For example, if i were buying Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire, would it be a total waste of time playing the original?

I would play the original first to get familiar with the characters and story. And the remakes will offer more than the originals just like HeartGold/SoulSilver had more than their originals. It would not be a waste of time IMO.

Emarald is an updated version of Ruby/Sapphire, so play that instead. Platinum is an updated version of Pearl/Diamond, same goes for that. As for the remakes, I'd say you might as well wait for them. Emerald is great but if this would be even better then you might not like having to do the same thing again but slightly updated. On the other hand, playing Emarald first will make you appreciate the changes/updates a lot more, so it's a personal preference.

To tell you the truth I skipped Black and White 2 myself. Unova is my least favorite region. I like Hoenn the most and Johto comes in at a close second. Kanto third and Sinnoh fourth.

Thanks for the reply.
My point is, is it worth playing pokemon black/white AND black2/white2? I heard somewhere that black and white combined to create black 2/white 2.

Sorry for the delayed replies. I guess they're worth playing if you want to play every game and not skip any. I'll probably try them out in June or so.

I suggest the Heartgold/SoulSilver series and nothing more.

SoulSilver and Emerald ;)

If I were to get just one DS Pokemon game for my lady, would one of Black/White be a good choice? A good example of the games for if she only plays one? I figure it leaves the option of playing B/W2 next if she feels like it.

She played at least one Pokemon game in her youth, I'm not sure if it was GB or GBA (or both), and feels like trying another.

Pokemon Black/White were pretty much my least favorites out of the entire series, so much so that I skipped Black/White 2 completely. Not sure if that helps your decision much.

Platinum is the best choice for a single DS game
BW2 kinda needs you to play BW first.
But don't be put off of BW because of what people say, its does some things slightly differently and people hate change.
