Pacifism only works to a point, though. Same goes for reasoning.
If one cannot be reasoned with and threatens with violence, then frankly violence may be the right answer (only as self-defense).

I see what you mean but you have to look at what I said in its proper context

"If people are being stupid, you should try reasoning with them instead of resorting to violence right away."

My point was people can be as stupid as they want or say whatever they want without deserving violent retribution or corrective violence.

At this point it would be arguing definitions. For the definition of stupid I'm interpreting, stupid cannot be reasoned with, and can take dangerous unjustifiable actions. If they could reason and refrain from violence, they wouldn't be stupid.
