Most, if not all, of those 2500 consoles would have gone to someone who did have the foresight to pre-order, so that means these people made 2500 other people miss out on their console for launch day, instead allowing those who didn't pre-order to get their hands on them before those who did. Now, if this was over food, medicine, or other items vital to people's health and well being, then yeah, sure. But we're talking about a video game console here - if someone didn't have the foresight to preorder and doesn't have the patience to wait, that's on them, not the seller.
I was actually considering doing this myself to pay for my own Wii U, but my conscience got the better of me. I remember all the times I've been extorted over gig tickets that sold out within hours of going live so I had to pay 4x the price on eBay.
