ROM Hack Whoa! What’s going on? CIA ROM Trouble!

Hello. I posted this thread mainly because I am extremely confused here. My question is this: I downloaded a CIA ROM (I’m sorry if you don’t support this!), and it works great! Even the plugin cheats as well! The only problem is that I somehow can’t use a save editor for the ROM. I did what I usually do: use JKSaveManager/Checkpoint to extract the game’s save data, and then I put my microSD in the computer to try and edit the ROM. But instead, it keeps saying there’s an error and it refuses to cooperate. Do ROM CIAs work differently for Save Editors to work on? I’m really stumped. What do I do? Any help would be most appreciated.

Whats the game title? Some games require additional work to make them work properly.

It’s Fire Emblem Awakening. I’m replaying it for old times’ sake. And the Save Editor I’m using is a Convoy Editor. I forgot it’s name though...
