Question Why Are People Necrobumbing threads

I seen three old threads necrobumped 2 yesterday and 1 today

they are all from around 2008-2009
why don't we lock them because more and more people will bump them

Dunno. A shitton of people kept bumping one of Aurora's blog entries (okay, well, actually one moron bumped it and then everyone followed suit), even though their comments kept getting deleted, and then the blog got locked.

You're mistaking sexual attraction for romantic attraction. You can be attracted to girls and still have little to no interest in sex

You know what might help? Setting up an auto script that says says "This thread is so&so old, do you feel that your bump is contributing to the community or what you like to make a thead instead?"
Something like this might discourage unnecessary neceobumps and encourage useful threads, it might also help discourage uselsess bumps from happening

Yeah, but at least they were effectively warned beforehand. They can't say, "I didn't know this thread was 6 years old" if a script straight warned them right out the gate

Sure, but if they don't read and just get warnings, then it just shows how little they cared in the first place.

I don't see the problem in general if it contributes to the thread for the greater good. Ever Googled a problem you've had and found a forum post with someone with the same problem along the way and you solved the problem? Can't hurt to post your results. However, responding to an 8 year old thread to say "lol me too" doesn't contribute anything.

It's all in context. It's not always bad.
