I was considering upgrading to a 1TB SSD, so, naturally, I went to PCPP: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#t=0&S=900000,12000000&sort=price&page=1
Seems a bit high. Was expecting around the $150 range.
Just to test, I lowered the size down to 400GB+: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#t=0&S=400000,12000000&sort=price&page=1
What!? Those are the same prices I paid over 2 years ago. And I remember prices dropping below $100 2 years ago, which means they've gone up.
Mining most cryptocurrencies doesn't need SSDs, and the few that benefit would have 8-10 GPUs per SSD. And they'd use smaller 128GB drives, so prices shouldn't be affected much, if at all.
So, why are prices so high?
