Just curious. It's an honest question.
Posts regarding TX and SX OS were forbidden. Mainly targeting posts that linked the dreaded "boot.dat" or any other SX related software/products.

They've gone so far as to tell Gary (before the lawsuits, ect) that he was no longer welcome to post SX OS related news in the forum.

But the top thread, "Hack SX OS" is more than welcome. Links to cracked versions of the software are allowed, as well as discussions regarding the subject.
Sigpatches for Atmosphere? Also completely fine, apparently.

These were just a couple of examples. I'm sure you've all seen in the past just how bias some of these "moderators" can be. Other similar topics have been made in the past.
If staff made a "rule" about linking software/products, that's fine, but follow those rules you make. This entire Switch section of the forum is a cancer, and the bias attitudes towards "oh dis cfw is better bcuz we don't like dis one" is such a huge contributing factor.

Follow your own rules and cut the bias/hypocritical stances.

Fuck, this place has become terrible

Edit: thanks for ruining the spelling of my title, autocorrect.

It's not a matter of bias, it's a matter of legality. We cannot provide, or even link to SX resources as the software and hardware has been deemed illegal in multiple countries. The reason for that is very simple - it contains copyrighted material. That being said, we can't control what people do with software or hardware they already own privately - if they want to hack it or modify it, they're free to do so. I hope that clears it up for you.

Yes the site really has fallen far in the *checks user join date* less than a year you’ve been here.

TX/SX discussion has always been allowed. I don’t even know what you’re talking about. There are hundreds of threads right now, about SX, and at least a dozen are from this week alone.

Gary was stopped from posting news because he linked to his casino ad fueled maxconsole website that was rife with also illegal content. Never the original source. If you’re going to throw stuff like that out there, get your facts right.

Linking to Team Xecuter and SX were forbidden because we don’t want to get smacked with legal repercussions because people were tossing links around during a time where TX was under legal scrutiny and pursuing websites that had their links present. It’s like ROMs. Discussion fine, link bad.

If you see something that is warez, report it.

You know as well as I do that that's not the case though.
Links to software are being given out, and nobody bats an eye.

But the "cracked" watered down versions of the boot.dat file is somehow allowed? Along with sigpatches?

C'mon, these bias stances have been around since these custom firmwares came along. Especially in this forum, more than anywhere else.

Just follow the rules that are made.

Uhm... Let's get one thing straight. I know, and you don't. That *is* the reason why links to SX software/hardware are prohibited on the site - because it's illegal. You're free to discuss SX OS, nobody is limiting speech in that regard. I haven't seen any links to boot.dat's in the thread, vanilla or modified - only scripts that implement necessary modifications. If you see any, please report them to the staff so that the files can be removed.

When aliens one day come upon the ruined servers of the GBATemp forums, do thou think that your petty gripe with thy mods will prevail? Will ye remain in the bowels of history with your comrades? Or should you fail, and be lost to the endless winds of time?
None shall tell, but time.

Hypocrital "Moderators" started spewing filth on this section of the forum long before the "no SX OS!" rule was made.

It's just blatantly obvious now, though.

Majority of the moderators are decent, but you have those couple that just can't help themselves lol

I can see both sides of the argument here. SXOS contains stuff that could get the site in trouble if it wasn't removed, but I don't know how many times parts of the boot.dat was posted in that thread. I did report a few of them to Linuxrares and they were subsequently removed but as far as I can see the op didn't have action taken against them. Any hosting of that file is going to get the site in trouble regardless of if it's cracked or not but it felt like the cracked copies were treated with lenience.

what's it take to get hired on Team SX? I figure you would know, and all...
If you're looking to get hired then it probably helps to know the company's name at the bare minimum. :P It's actually called Team Gateway

The entire thread should be removed, tbh. Fair is fair and rules are rules, after all.

Excuse me, while I use this forum for Atmosphere's sigpatches though.

Sig patches aren't copyright code, they are home made patches for patching other homebrew and other files. Some software doesn't even contain sig patches - but can make those automatically, this also isn't illegal - there's no copyright code or sig patches to being with and a user automatically can create them depending on what input "they" tell the program to use.

I did notice however that tinfoil uses embedded switch keys (when I reversed the nro), and that gets talked about all the time :-) go figure, where do you draw the line though.

This isn't North Korea or Main land China - and we still can talk about stuff, and for the OP if it triggers you reading about stuff, just watch cat videos or something that doesn't offend you. I mean you wouldn't go to a fetish prawn site and then complain about scantily clad dressed people in latex, would you?
