i was under the impression that since the hardware is cheap the games would also be the cheapest but it seems that it costs the same as the 360. As suggested by futureshop. O yea and are these the final boxarts as well? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/class.asp...=EN&catid=24294

Fake boxart, fake prices. Nintendo already stated their games would ge cheaper. I assume they will stick with the $50 price. More news from nintendo should be coming in September they said.

From what I have learned as I work in the gaming media end of stuff is that it's highly likely the hardware will go for $200, perhaps $250 but if there with some nice free stuff (game or something in there to make it worthy.) Games will be prices just like the GC so $50 or less(for budget titles I'd assume.)

It's still not solid at all, just how it's looking to shape up. THey obviously can't force a greedy 3rd party (ie: EA) to not try and go for $60 with their launch and near launch games.

The boxart and prices in that link are just placeholder images and prices so people have a rough idea what is coming out and have the chance to pre-order the item... most places do them.

As for the console price you certainly don't need to have a job in the industry to know the Wii will launch for $200 or $250 with some extras... it's common knowledge and Nintendo have hinted at the price point many times.

And yeah the prices of games will be about the same i.e. $50/£40, though naturally simpler titles such as say duck hunt will be cheaper with exact prices depending on the game in question and whether Nintendo release it on disc or only available as a download.

FS.ca also has PS3 games for $74.99, which is $5 higher then 360/Wii games currently.

Obviously that's the same way though, with just placeholder prices and boxarts. It wouldn't surprise me though as they are supposedly going to be more then 360 games

Right in the images it says that they are mockups. Well doesn't actually word it like that but you get the idea.

I'm betting it will be $250 and include 2 controllers + nunchucks and a classic controller maybe.

Dont give Nintendo too much credit here-its usually very skimpy on its accessories, like any videogame company. But the PS3 and Wii were confirmed to be bundled with a game; read on either Kotaku or Joystiq. I'd search for a link but I fell too lazy roght now.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
