Gaming Wii Connect24

This is going to sound like such a n00b question but I can't remember.
Is it safe to have Wii Connect24 on when using a softmodded wii?
I remember reading it wasnt safe a long time ago and I can't remember why.
I tried searching but everything was either not a direct answer or from years ago when people thought nintendo could force updates on you if you had it turned on.

Yeah, it's fine as long as you don't open mail from Nintendo.

They normally have updates (not forced, but still) and you might get the Mail Glitch Brick that is out there. Scary stuff.

Mail Bricks are rather rare, so no need to worry too much. Just don't open Nintendo's mail messages because they're just updates and stuff.

whoa - didn't know about not opening nintendo letters
I just recently noticed I had one and opened it... Although I think I may be ok since I have priloader 'hacks' for 'no updates' on (game or otherwise)
