I've got a question about updating WiiFlow:

I have everything set up and working w/ Fat32 & WBFS partitions on HDD. I am not certain what version of WiiFlow I currently have (is there a way to check? I downloaded mine from the original WiiFlow website 1.1, not sure which release#), but I would like to "update" to r25. Do I simply download the 249.dol & 222.dol files and replace my current versions of these files on the HDD.

Is the file "libogc-23-10-09-DevkitR18-19.zip" only needed for compiling to get versions r26, r27 and future versions not available for direct download?

Sorry, for my ignorance.
Thanks
BP

You can download the dol file and replace your current versions on the HDD (dont forget renaming it boot.dol)
For compiling, i dont know how it work.

And I'm wondering if the work for fat32/NTFS had begin for wiiflow?

Thanks MrKill

Anyone know what version (release#) the current link on the original Wiiflow website is "r#"?

Also, what changes have been made between that release and r25? Will I be able to get Guitar Hero 5 & Band Hero to work by just changing the game to use 222 with r25 in WiiFlow?

I am hesitant to update to r25 b/c everything is most everything is working. Just wanted to know if it will be worth it.

Thanks
BP

Thanks yet again MrKill !!!

Still wondering which version I have currently. NSMB works, so I guess I am r20 or better. No big deal.

Is there an easy way to get GH5 & Band Hero working? Do others have these working within WiiFlow?

I guess my confusion was in that, I never installed Hermes 222 or 223 originally through Homebrew Channel. I believe I only had 249 installed, so when selecting 222 or 223 within WiiFlow, it had nothing to point to.??

Am I correct in this assumption?

Also, what merge of IOS should I use to install to either 222 or 223? I've read that IOS 37 is needed for GH5 & Band Hero. (All other Guitar Hero & Rock Band games seem to work properly with 249)

I am traveling, so unable to test until I get home. My plan is to install using this tutorial: http://gwht.wikidot.com/hermes-ios222-223

Is this correct way to do it? Then select 222 from game options within WiiFlow?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Hi,

Install IOS 222 as 38
Install IOS 223 as 38 merged 37

Select IOS 223 in the WiiFlow gamesettings for GH5 and BH.
Start the game and rock!

Only install 222 as 38 merged 37, and forget about 223. Most games will work that way, including GH.

In my short experience with 223...only MH:G required that.
Didnt load on 222

Thank you for continuing work on this.

I'm a major fan of wiiFlow, but was looking at other loaders for fat/ntsc support. Very reluctantly considering downgrading to another loader to enable more portability in my drive selection.

It is great that this is now in progress, as I was worried that it was getting abandoned.

Thanks and best wishes to Narolez, and of course Hibernatus. BUT especially to whomever is now carrying the torch towards the finish line. (Zorglub and r-win?)

btw the line does move regularly, so good luck.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
