Now that's good news!

I have been waiting since November for a new version of this PlayStation emulator for Wii (and GC) and finally it's out.
Here it is:

http://code.google.com/p/pcsxgc/

I tested it with Castlevania SOTN and it works perfectly.

The whole engine was updated and Dynarec is now working!

For what i can see:

-improved compatibility
-more gamepad compatibility
-faster emulation
-better sound support
-memcard management

I think many games are already 'full' playable (except some glitches).

What else can i say? Many thanks to the team (tehpola, emukidid, sepp256)!!!

edit:
A modified version from SLotman with classic controller support (no more gc controller):

A compatibility list:

Well I'm about to try FF9 CD1, will update if it runs.....

Edit - Tried Dynarec and Interpreter modes but both stop loading when the screen says "Execute" - PAL FF9 CD1 Bin/Cue format.

OK, I forgot PAL FF9 had copy protection - PPF patched it and its running, get a code dump error after selecting region from the ppf patch/trainer front menu though.

adding wii controllers support is by far the easiest things to do with libogc
same goes for adding uSB/SDHC support

why do people always seem to be obsessed whith that kind of features, this is certainly not top priority for them as they probably have much more important and interesting tasks to handled first rather than adding tons of "shiny" features to catch people's attention..

remember this is BETA, which means it's only released for people motivated enough to test the current progress;
if you want it so much, why not buying a GC controller, they are damn cheap ?

Tales of Phantasia translation works pretty well so far. Wish I could get rid of the stats at the top but im sure that will be implemented eventually

The readme says it only likes .bin and .cue

I put both of them in there but I wouldn't be surprised if it ran with only the .bin.

Edit: It seems that I misread what you typed.

I never used ImgBurn to convert an image but I just opened it and I see that you can make a .bin from a disc or from files.

Vagrant Story is working.

Edit: lol at sdhc workout. I only have 8GB and of as course as with everything the amount of space you have is always below what it is listed as.

use Dynarec control for best response.

ape escape = not working
gex 3 deep cover gecko = runs at 50 fps mainly sound is messed up though
spyro 3 = actually plays pretty good! sound is a bit messed but it runs smoothly, no music though
spyro= also runs smoothly, no music voice works but not in sync.
spyro 2 = runs smooth, no music, voice is messed up
gex2 = almost perfect sound and music works, voice doesn't and runs smooth.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
