do you think anybody would be able to work out how the kernel works on an xbox one s to be able to run a full version of windows 10?

I'm sure it's possible but there are two main reasons that Xbox One hasn't been "hacked" wide open. These are just my observations I am by no means saying that my comment is 100% correct.

1. Less incentive with Dev Mode. - Having the ability to already run emulators and homebrew applications kinda defeats the purpose.

2 The Xbox One is not as popular with hackers as say the Nintendo Switch.

Pretty much what wiired said.

Why hack a console that can already run your own code?
Same happened to the PS3.

yeah but you need dev mode and most of the code is for emulators

if there was a full windows 10 running on the xbox one and we could install steam and other apps ect on it and play pc games unless the drivers for the gpu wifi ect will not work under a full version of windows 10 somebody would have to make comparable ones

xbox one where i live sell used as low as 150nzd and xbox one s used sell as low as $250 and would make a decent budget gaming pc for that price

yeah but alot of coders dont care about backups or piracy just look at all the consoles hacked so far alot of coders try to block it

I wouldn't exactly call it blocking it.

blocking or preventing it either way some coders try to prevent it but people always find away around it

again, no. *from 3ds and switch scene.* There is nothing preventing piracy on switch (using this system as a example). The only thing preventing piracy it is if signpatches are implemented (and also a title installer). But I never heard of a developer/hacker intentionally locking out backups with cfw. And plus you can't exactly say they just wouldn't implement signpatches. Because then more advanced homebrew (that for example, is installed to the system as a runable title) would be unable to work/ran that way. Which would inconvenience the scene.
So in order to lock out backups, but keep advanced homebrew. You're literately saying they would intentionally make more work for themselves than necessary, just to lock out retail games.

theres 3 systems that come to mind over the years of me watching them ps3,wii,wii u

the wii when it was hacked only had a disc backup launcher and not a usb,sd or any backup loader

the wii u would only play games from sd card from loadiine which didn't allow dlc or updates

and ps3 there was a cfw made for only homebrew and not backups but i cant remember atm which one since that was along time ago

again people eventually get around it obviously but i've seen alot of devs say there not interested in piracy (maybe for legal reasons or whatever idk) but they have said it

It will happen eventually. A kernel exploit will be found in each of the Xbox One consoles. The main reason why it hasn't had much attention in the hardware hacking scene, is actually because most people have been focusing on hacking the Nintendo consoles. The Nintendo consoles have always been far more popular with the hardware hacking scene than any PlayStation consoles or any Xbox consoles.

Xbox consoles (especially the Xbox One) has only been not-so-focused by the hardware hacking scene, is because all Xbox consoles never really sold very well in any country. It has nothing to do with Dev Mode being available on Xbox One, it's just simply because most people don't even own an Xbox One, not even I do.

But hey, good thing you've mentioned about Kernel hacks, because who knows? This might raise the attention to some hardware hacking enthusiast who might take interest in hacking the Xbox One hardware and then after some success, then they'll release the exploit to the public. It'll happen eventually, not to worry~

Imagine when it happens, everyone will be running powershell scripts everywhere in the kernel and possibly installing custom x86_64 operating systems on the console (such as GNU Linux distros), and yes, it'll be possible, because it is running on a x86_64 architecture.

The one thing we do know about the Xbox One kernel, is that it runs virtual machines, so the environments are sandboxed.

Spread this loud and clear, so that someone can look at this and go "Ooooooh, interesting~ I haven't thought of looking into the Xbox One yet" xD

And once a kernel exploit is found, it will only be possible to use the exploit through a modchip or some hardmod, since virtual machine environments don't have hardware kernel access at all.

The XB1 has only 3 exclusives games, that's why there is no interest.

The XB1 has sold over 50 million, not PS4 levels but too say no one has one is not truthful.

I see you weren't around for the PSP. AcidMods and others solely existed to hard mod it. Jobless Punk was probably one of the best. He implemented a dual, standard SD/Pro reader, a Go camera in the back of his UMD drive, and several other neat things. The homebrew scene was also a golden age because developers didn't act like children.

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.

He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
