If its diffrent then i dont think any of the firmware works on it, i'd recoment using YSMenu v1.17a12.

Why is this thread never updated with the latest woodr4.nds files? Or better yet, why aren't the woodr4.nds files included in the woodr4 downloads?
Because the guy needs to analyze Wood and build the files himself, which is why it's currently one version behind since 1.57 was just released last night.
Because it's only one guy who needs to download, decrypt, re-package, then re-upload to the site. As well this is a separate (so to speak) project from Wood R4.
You can easily do this yourself if you don't want to wait for him to update for you. He explains how he does it on the main page and it's really not that hard to do.

._. It's decrypt. WoodR4 comes default with the .nds file encrypted for the R4 because otherwise the R4 won't read the file. It's not such an amazing feat that no one else can perform it and it definitely isn't like he is actually really looking deeply into the file. The process is more of a "download, shove into program, upload output". R4crypt works to accomplish this...or if you want, xenobox also has r4dec/r4enc as well as an implementation of r4crypt. The repackaging bit just happens to add two text files, one which is a copy/paste of the changelog, and the other is a plug towards himself, some generic instructions for the dim, a link to his thread, another plug to himself, saying thanks for downloading, and then another plug to himself. Then of course is the WoodR4.nds conveniently labeled with the version and a plug to himself.
I once brought up how little energy was required to even make a package like this, but I have since given up on caring (though that is why there are some instructions on how it is done on the first post now).

Just because I happened to make it in all of maybe 2 minutes from start to finish, I uploaded the lastest .nds version though you will have to forgive my laziness as I really didn't want to add the text files and compress it or anything so it's just the .nds file conveniently renamed to have the version number on it. Of course, since the file is just new version, it's still available at the same link in the first post just so everyone else that is lazy doesn't have to look for it.

I've used the 4rcrypt thing before, but it still seems like an unnecessary step for the user to have to do. The dev should just include it in the download, or link to it at least.

Hi dude, you know I actually have a blank (bad flashed when updating) R4SDHC, (Labeled as *new*, 3ds-dsi, r4isdhc.com Dual-Core blah blah)
I've successfully booted an old R4, putting the R4 Wood in .nds format on a SuperCardSD (Slot-2)
I'm trying to do the same with the r4sdhc but with no success, do you think it might not work?, the SD has the DS_Menu and __rpg folder, I'm sure that the firmware of the flashcard is completely blank.
I've downloaded the wood from it's corresponding page and done the .NDS file manually but nope.
Only tellme if you think it is going to work or not for knowing what to do (getting another fc)

Wood is not firmware and is not related to firmware, it will not fix your cart. Nothing will except re-flashing proper firmware. But if the cart is cutting off a DS when it's put int, then it's physically fucking broken.
Everything i want to do is to boot the damn cart and then running the upgrade for the flashcart

I also want to know if it is posible of dump the content of a flashcard, using a slot-2 dumper and if then booting it up may work? after that obviously running r4iupgrade.
Also obviously being a dump of a non-broken cart. I've already dumped the content of a supercardSD(slot-2) and booting its own content up works.

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
