Hacking Would changing the Nativ_firm be able fix a N3DS bricked by downgrading with O3DS cia files?

I already know how stupid i was by not checking my cia files when downgrading, no need to remind me.

But with the recent downgrade from 10.4-10.5 which changes the native_firm with hardmod, would injecting a N3DS Native_firm to my corrupted nand be enough to fix it? Or won't boot anyways? If doesn't... does my console stand any chance in any future to work again? Also the o3ds cia files installed succesfully, but obviously won't boot with them...

EDIT: I'm sorry to have to say this, but I don't think it's possible after all. The Native_Firm filesizes are vastly different between the o3DS and n3DS Native_Firms. As such, we can't generate a valid Xorpad between the two, as the o3DS Native_Firm isn't long enough to generate an n3DS valid Xorpad.

I am truly sorry for getting your hopes up.

It may be possible. If the downgrade process was otherwise successful (as in, all files installed correctly, even if they were the wrong version), the o3DS Native_Firm should have been encrypted with the n3DS' Xorpad.

You'd need to extract the o3DS Native_Firm with a hardmod first, then compare the extracted o3DS Native_Firm with a decrypted o3DS Native_Firm to determine the Xorpad. From there you'd encrypt a n3DS Native_Firm with the generated Xorpad and flash it back to the console.

I am unsure whether the encryption process for Native_Firm differs between o3DS and n3DS, if it does, there might be issues determining the correct Xorpad. I don't think this scenario has been tested that much yet, though.

All that being said, you have basically nuked your consoles system files with o3DS files. I'm not sure if that is something you will be able to recover from just by manually patching Native_Firm

Best of luck!

Oh, i didn't see your edit before... I was about to hardmod and just came back to see this thread... Well, thanks for your help dude, do you think there will ever be a flaw that allow it to work again? Is it any worth to keep the console?

Even with a hard mod you are f'ed without a nand backup.

Best bet is to shell swap with a good one

It's not hardmodded, i wanted to know if it could repair it before spending in one

Sorry I keep misreading the post. Yea at this point you NEED a nand backup for restore, if that has not been achieved then you're totally SOL. The best thing you can do is a shell swap with a new board or sell it for parts and buy a new one

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
