I want to have acces on the data of my modded Xbox, i downloaded Fatxplorar 3 with all drivers and formated another drive to test if fatxplorar works and it works very well. But the problem is that the harddrive of my modded og xbox shows to be unknown in particions and if i initialize it all data will be gone. Im very sure there is nothing damaged about that drive

OG Xboxes use keyed hard drives, you need that key in order to access them *or* you have to “null” it out to unlock it. The same applies to adding new, bigger drives.

You can change the hdd key with a softmod disk you can also dump your key and load it into the app

once running if not a 1.6 you can tsop it with conductive ink (did my 1.4 that way) and flash a custom bios Id say cerbios for anything lower than a 1.6 as for getting your hdd key you could use a soc computer (raspberry pi or audino) to plug into the debug ports/lpc just remove the solider blobs in the holes and use M to F jumper wires (or F to F if you soldered in a lpc socket then look up Piprom for raspberry pi boards you can read your eeprom that way, or you can modify it to null or better all 1's (for insignia use)

as i said you could also change it to all 1's if you plan to use insignia as nulled keys will not work for insignia (your hdd key is part of what identifies you+console S/N on xbl 1.0

you can also back up your eeprom.bin to the original drive if it still works ftp into the xbox and dl it to your computer then use the eeprom in fatxplorer to relock your new hdd, though i recommend my method if its a rev 1.5 or lower to flash a custom bios

Do you have the original working console or a dump of the key/bios?

If you have the bios IIRC you can extract the key from that and unlock the drive.

Also be aware that the replacement hombrew XBL (not Xlink) IIRC requires the HDD key.

I was very sad that my Modded Xbox was broken because i tought i can Only mod with Chips and Chips or Modded Ines are very expensive. I looking to a way top soft Mod so i can use the Drive in that bin Modded Xbox.

The way you proceed from here depends on whether you have access to a working Xbox or not. Back in my day we’d softmod Xboxes by doing a drive swap after the console initialised and just copying custom firmware over (once the Xbox recognised the key the drive was “unlocked”, so swapping the IDE ribbon into a drive reader without powering it off was trivial), nowadays you’re kind of spoiled for choice with exploits. It’s not ideal that you no longer have the original Xbox that had the key on-board, but not hopeless. Any particular reason why you need that drive specifically? It’d be orders of magnitude easier to just softmod a working machine and then ponder on what to do with the locked drive.

If you have a modchip, the HDD can be unlocked and upgraded without resorting to much difficult methods.
