I spent about 4 hours making a dinner menu for my household in Photoshop...

Sadly, these are all the meals I know how to cook reliably and regularly. I've printed it out, and will hang it on the fridge.

And by the way, the "KIDS MENU" is a joke, as I only have two cats.

I'm not a fan of hard-boiled eggs. Like, at all. They make my whole house smell like farts, and I don't like the texture.

JUST WONDER, WHY ALL MEAT dishes? don't you guys eat fish sometimes?
In my experience most Americans don't go much beyond muscle meats for beef, pork and chicken, maybe the occasional duck if they like Chinese food or deer if they are a hunter. Lamb is heard of but a rarity.

Also depending upon where you are in the US then fish might have to be flown in to you and thus becomes rather an expensive hobby (freshwater fish... hahaha). To that end the occasional can of tuna maybe, and US canned tuna is bloody awful actually compared to what those in the rest of the world are used to.

There is something of a notable and increasing body of evidence to say this really is a poor diet (no fish is generally not great, or at least unlikely to be made up for elsewhere, and muscle meat, while tasty after a fashion, is not actually all that nutritious when all is said and done -- connective tissue and organs is good stuff and trying to get most there to even contemplate liver is a massive struggle) but that is probably a different discussion.

Forgot to ask last time. Why did that take 4 hours? Was it pondering and writing the funny quips part of it? If not might need to work on that workflow and helper methods if you want to take that sort of thing on tour.

@AmandaRose but seafoods are cleaner than land foods.

@FAST6191 never expected that actually the logistic is the problem to prevent some Americans to get fish. lol

"but seafoods are cleaner than land foods."
Do what now? Is this more hippy nonsense? Also there is such a thing as freshwater fish (in Europe the Finnish have quite a few, mainly as there is a lake or two in that part of the world, quite a bit of curry will use it as well if you fancy going for India-Bangladesh).

Anyway fish get all the same pollutants (possibly more -- see mercury), parasites are all the rage in fish (see worms in swordfish for a nice start there, anybody that prepares it in fancy restaurants will tell you the same thing as well), if you don't store and prepare it properly then yeah. Indeed if I went and butchered one of my neighbour's cows or jumped into a boat and caught some fish in the north sea, channel or med then I know which one I would note.

I certainly enjoy a good bit of fish (haddock, skate and bream are my favourites, though good luck getting anything that tasty when stateside unless it is smoked (urgh) and imported) and reckon more people would actually be quite a bit healthier if they ate it more often but to go with the notion is it cleaner... nah.

*So I quite often stay in Washington state (top left just below Canada on the average map). A place actually rather famous for its fish markets, fish industry and they tell me seafood culture. Still mostly tilapia (don't tend to see it much in Europe, indeed I would not expect most UK peeps to know what it is as it is that uncommon. For my money it is marginally less bland than cod) and cod, maybe some salmon at the right time of year in most places. Plenty of crab though and to be fair they do a decent line in fish pie.
Went to New Mexico (very much a landlocked state) and the price of fish there... ouch, guess I am sticking with steak.

Ok fast I will change my saying to

If it comes from fresh water or the sea it isn't going in me
But seaweed actually makes for some quite nice flavourings in things (it is basically pure flavour enhancer).

Also plenty of tasty birds and eggs thereof live in water in various ways.

That said I would have to question your dislike of fish in general. What have you tried here? For as much as "haddock or steak?" "becomes flip a coin" I will note I really dislike smoked fish, have no fondness for salmon, trout is boring, cod is boring as anything for me, oily fish I can take or leave, crab/lobster/crustaceans are edible but nothing I would particularly seek out and things that cling to rocks vary (had curried mussels a while back... one of my favourite curries ever there but most of the time I will ignore it). Was it a bad experience some point?
I have met some that genuinely seem to dislike fish but it is super rare, especially for those that presumably grew up/descended from those that nibbled fish a bit (something I am taken to understand the outer Hebrides has a bit of a passing acquaintance with)

I'm not too much of a seafood fan... I like fish sometimes, mostly cod, and I like crab meat and popcorn shrimp, but that's about it.

Fast here is just some of the fresh water/sea food I have tried and hated. Cod/Haddock/Kippers/Arbroath Smokies/Crab/Lobster/Prawns/Scallops/Octopus/Callamari/various sushi no idea what fish is used for that shit. Wilks Mussles Oysters and probably a lot more I can't think of right now. And don't even get me started of the disgusting dish that is the Outer Hebrides specialty of Mackerel with an oat batter yuk.

Why do you think I got the fuck out of there and moved to Glasgow lol. It was because nearly every fucking restaurant on the isles is a seafood restaurant.

...This certainly turned into a seafood thread, quite quickly; I think we digressed enough.

I don't like meat with bones in it. Nor do I like chewy meat. Therefore, the only "meat" I eat is chicken breast and veal, preferably cooked as schnitzel. I don't like T-bone steaks or chicken wings or drumsticks.

That is ingenious @Jayro, loving it (dodo do do doooo) and making me well hungry..... U do drive thru or home delivery?

Free delivery to Scotland if I spend over 20 bucks!

Gotta say, Reading the above, I'm not a fan of fish at all either. Can maybe go a thin slice of salmon at a major push but all the rest of it tastes the same to me.....

@AmandaRose, i'll be heading up to Isles in the new year for work, where would you recommend thats not a seafood plaice? (You see what I did there? ^_^ sigh :rofl2:)

Lostbhoy HS-1 is the best restaurant on the Isles. You will find it at Cromwell Street in Stornoway next to Lews Castle. Great food pretty much anything you would want. And get a window seat as the scenery is absolutely beautiful there.
