curious to know, was there any kind of protection that you had to bypass to get it to work?
I guess it just runs right off the chip without encryption considering the hardware... lol

Nope, no protections to break. It's just a cheap repro cart that I flashed with my ROM.

Once my GBA labels get here, I'll have them for the Gameboy Advance too. (Still a GBC ROM running in Goomba Color) The main point of this one is not only more hardware choices, but also for a slimmer profile of the cart running on a GBA. Here's a mock-up of what the GBA carts will look like, except they'll have the colored transparent Pokemon shells:

Probably not for a long time. They're still working on basic features for Gameboy. We get 3-layer parallax scrolling, bigger sprites, a music manager, and super gameboy border support in the next major update.

This is so cool! I've been following the development through your blog posts and it's amazing to see how you got from the rom to the final product (cartridge, labels, final packaging). I need to get my copy before it's sold out!

Thanks. My G/f had these holo pill bags left over and she let me have them for this, so they come out looking pretty. I tried to make the label as a tribute to the 80's retro grid that was used in the original DMG's box art.

Btw, I'm wondering why make this a GBA cart as well when you can't really test any of the GBA features with this test cart? Kinda seems a little pointless? I don't mean to put down the idea, just wondering..
