Shoutbox updated

I've just updated the shoutbox.
FYI the shoutbox can be found on the portal but is only visible to our regulars.

What's new?
Well... not much. The shoutbox now uses ajax: it should be much faster, and a lot lighter in terms of server load.
Just thought I would let you guys know!

Seriously, other than having IRC and a Shoutbox... We should have a Ventrillo server. xD
I spend countless hours on the one I go on.

Good work Costy, but could you shrink the text field down just a bit? It's stretching the other boxes on that side of the page. :)

EDIT: Oop, one more thing. You forgot the back/forward buttons to read older shouts.

whats new:

1) the button now works

2) it holds text after posting, to make spamming upto 5x faster !!!

3) the whole box doesn't refresh, just the shouts

4) there is a link to the rules

anything i missed?

would disabling the shoutbox increase speed or no? does it load but only show for people who have it on?

you can choose whether or not to display it in "My Controls", also there is a "hide" button on it that takes you to the page to disable it. It only shows for logged in users who have 100 + posts, so it's not that heavy.
