University

Howdy

I should warn you this blog is going to be boring if you're one of the six people that will actually read this.

I went back to University yesterday for the start of my final year. It was satisfactory. I'm doing modules in the EU, Ethnic Conflict, Voter behaviour, French Politics, Gender and Politics and a bastard research project. Oh yeah, baby! Yesterday I went to my seminar for the EU module and my lecturer for no discernible reason told me I would be leading a group presentation for next Monday with several; people I do not know. Though in fairness to the others, they've responded to my e-mail about meeting up, so they're I think they're a decent bunch. If you care about the presentation, I'm arguing about recent political and economic turmoil will lead up to the break up of the EU. I'm basically going to argue the EU as we know it to cease and we may see a split/bloc/tier system of European integration by Germany leaving the Eurozone along with several other countries with France leading the others to safety as they're will be flexabilty keep to interest rates low regarding quantitative easing. In addition I will also look into the present weakness in the EU such as the feeling of Euro fatigue and whether the EU institutions are strong enough to keep the EU together. Wishy washy I know so I'll have to deal with it.

Good luck!

You were right, that was boring.

Naw, just kidding, congrats on the presentation. As wishy washy as it may be, you're going to be glad that you had the opportunity.

Woo I just started my degree at the London School of Geekonomics. hate it.

Cheers lads.

I don't have a problem doing a project but my problem was the fact she just chose me to lead without asking for volunteers. It honestly went like this, she explained we would be doing this and she than asked me for my name. I complied and she straight out told me I would be leading this team. For the other lot, she actually asked for a volunteer. I actually face-palmed after that.

That was actually a nice read since, being in America, I don't really know the state of affairs in Europe, it's nice to hear someone's viewpoint on the matter.

Also...what happened? You seem to be a lot more enjoyable around the temp, lately.

Cheers.

What happened? Nothing, it's just your imagination.

get off gbatemp for a while!!!! Or you gonna procastinate and not to do so well! I annoyed my group for by not doing the the work and I put my individual research project together in pretty much the final 2 weeks and just scraped a pass for it!! Work hard now, and focus on the project, this is the year that counts so make the most of it!!

Nice blog.

Hey, don't forget to add how Italy is going to total shit in your presentation.

And how we will probably be the next state that will bankrupt.

:creep: / :(

(kinda happy and sad about it at the same time. Happy because the stupid italians who voted Berluscrapsconi will finally understand how crappy he is, and sad because money will be scarce :( )

I appreciate the advice but this project counts for nothing for my final grade. I know how important this year is, I've already started work on my dissertation and I'm already planning for an essay due in two months. I'm too paranoid to leave things late.

Thanks. I haevn't forgotten Italy at all. My argument of the EU being split into different tier/blocs goes like this. The first tier is Germany and the other positive balanced states who may form their own currency so a Euro platinum. The second tier is basically going to be everyone else led by France and a third tier wit the bailout states or to be more precise, Greece,Ireland and Portugal. In my amateur idea, Italy and Spain would actually be placed in the second tier due to the fact they're bigger and can't actually be bullied around a la Greece so its basically a cop out.

Regarding Silvio, I've never understood how on earth he's still PM. I know the Italian left and opposition are relatively weak but Silvio is surely an opposition's dream come true.

"we may see a split/bloc/tier system of European integration"

What like the EEC (when it was still around) vs EU vs Council of Europe all mixed in with all the various sub councils (Nordic council, Baltic Assembly, Council of the Baltic Sea States, whatever the UK has going on with devolved parliaments......)?

Granted this is somewhat different but it was my first thought upon reading your post.

My split tier/bloc idea is based really around the finances of member states more like like a credit rating and what type of credit card you get. Germany leads one side i.e. the states who are have positive balances so they're the platinum card holders with France and the rest having an average credit card. How this would work politically? I don't know except it would end the prospect of the so-called United States of Europe for the foreseeable future. I really should make it clear these are ideas that just came into my head whilst having lunch yesterday. Don't expect cohesion just yet.
