When parents say jobs are bad...

...they are right.

Once you get a job, you'll turn from a Spongebob into a Squidward, except with less free time.

You wake up from sleep at 6, only able to get out of bed at 7, dress up, make a coffee, then prepare to go to work without having time to eat brealfast most of the time.
Then you get assigned random stupid tasks which make you work unpaid overtime due to missing the train by a mere four ninutes due to finishing a long and monotone task, then arrive home around 18-19h, and pass out around 20h-22h from exhaustion, then repeat.

But there is one thing I can honestly say: I still hate school much more than I do jobs, because me not working can't get my mom arrested, and you don't get *physically assaulted* by "teachers" for not being an obedient little sheep. Instead you just get harsh words for your mistakes, and a fire letter if you do too many.
..and no food, but who needs that? :V

This blogpost is completely pointless tho', because almost no kid believes their parents when they talk about this topic

There's a reason it's called the 'pursuit' of happiness with capitalism and not the 'acquisition' of happiness. You have to be born into that shit.

"People say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy a jetski. Have you ever tried frowning on a jetski? It's literally impossible." - A comedian whose name I forget.

Now just imagine having so much money that you never have to work a day in your life.

Honestly, I wish I could work already. I can't stand school.
I have the same shitty time table as you do (okay, I get home an hour earlier but still), but I have even less free time due to homework and tests.

@smileyhead Yeah school did suck worse than some of the jobs I've had. Be prepared to get a new job every couple years though, especially if you live in a 'right to work' state. You'll want to find something worth putting in the effort for.

It’s all about making the best of your situation no matter how bad it is.

Look at your comparison with Spongebob and Squidward. They both have a dead end job at a burger place and they both haven’t acoomplished much in life. Spongebob has a hard time getting his drivers license with Mrs. Puff.

But look at how different Spongebob and Squidward looks at life. Spongebob still has that child like wonder and is full of excitement. He didn’t let the poor job at the Krusty Krab from a cheapsake Crab greedy for money bring him down to Squidwards level. He’s still fun and not boring and dull.

missing the train

That's not an issue to like 90% of people IN AMERICA. No, instead they get to sit in traffic and wind up late because no one knows how to drive in the 21st century, despite it being an absolutely necessary skill outside of a few big cities, like NYC.

At least when you finish working for the day, you're actually done. You don't have to do homework in addition to your work.

Yeah, I'm 100% aware I'm not ready for work. But I have to.

And nope, that's not true. I have flyers to drop in post boxes at the weekend, outside of my workdays.

lol homework.
Fuck me i'd take like 7 holidays a month, christmas holiday, spring break, and occasional easy ass homework, going to school 8:30-3:00 instead of 10-6 with like 10 paid days off a year.

School seemed like such a pain in the ass until you actually get a full time job and understand how easy school was.

You'll get used to it, after a couple of months your body will adapt and you'll go back to only needing a normal 7-8 hours sleep. It was the same for me when I started properly working ~2009, I would fall asleep immediately after making a rushed dinner and eating it. After about 6 months I could stay up to a more normal 10-11pm and not feel bone-weary the next morning.

I do try to tell any kids I know not to rush growing up, that being a kid is WAY better than being an adult, but no one ever listens  As a kid, if you mess up, the worst you can expect is getting yelled at, possessions confiscated, grounded maybe. Plus, you can have real fun and see magic everywhere. As an adult, if you mess up, you could lose your house, not be able to eat, and screw up the lives of your children or spouse that are depending on you. There's no one there to help you fix up your mistakes or shield you from any real-world harm. Plus, you lose your capacity for mindless fun and magic. Adulting sucks.

P.S. Are you still living with your parents? If so, it gets many times worse than what you're experiencing now!!!

@Quantumcat Jesus Christ, I feel personally attacked by this post, because it's so much true.
I totally agree, adulting sucks, and it gets worse as time goes on.

Yeah, I still live with my mom for undisclosed reasons. But even if I could, I wouldn't have enough money to move away because houses are expensive, and my employer is in too big of a deep shit to be able to pay me properly for the next few months.

On a related note, I personally prefer being a young adult, because I rarely mess up shit beyond repair, mostly because I'm not only smarter now, but also a lot slower, and my employer accepts if I stop working for an hour if I tell him that I got too tired from the monotone work, and I need to take a short break for me to be able to concentrate again. It's more important to take a break than to fuck shit up, because fucking even the smallest shit up at my workplace could at worst case make the entire company bankrupt, so yeah...
Also, as an adult I can DIY shit without getting my shit stolen for them being "too dangerous".

I miss the days when homework was my hardest task to take care of.
But at least, if you work hard enough, you can get that extra money you need to buy the consoles or games you want and lift up you depressed shitty spirit.

@Xzi dude, even the richiest of rich like Bill Gates has worked until his retirement.

U won't get money if you don't work, it's the LAW.

Not really sure what to add. I got the barest whiff of that sort of work/life and ran the other way.

There are those that inherit, have passive income streams, a kept people by a spouse, live off the state...
None of those are especially easy to pull off well and may require you just be lucky.

I never did homework because the amount of it was just absurd. Luckily this behavior doesn't reflect on my actual attitude, but most teachers hated me nonthless.

As for working hard to get more money, eh... money doesn't motivate me as long as I can buy food when I require. With the rest I'd just buy myself more work to do.

@Sono that's the problem with permanent files...
Though what you did is actually viably justifiable, any job provider would argue that you have tendencies for disrespect and may not give you a job with good pay.
Will probably stick you to a remedial low-pay gag until give them proof you're going to work hard to get the money to live.

You won't live long nor healthy on instant noodles.

Lol. The most disrespect I have is if I accidently start swearing like someone with Tourette's. Other than that I don't treat my job like I did homework.

Also, I live in a country where most people have extremely low payments, so that doesn't affect me too much.

Also, replace "instant noodles" with photosynthesis because I haven't eaten in ~2days by now.

And here I thought I was the only one on a photosynthesis-dependant diet :rofl2:

Anyway, you should strive and rise above.
Take every chance and consider every option and opportunity well in order to be a rich jackass without the jackass part.
Be better to spite others until you're doing it for the heck of it.
Then,no amount of money will buy the respect you'll have.

Screw that! I love being an adult. I may have more responsibilities but I also have so much more freedom. I get to control how my life turns out based on the amount of effort I put into it. A lot of people just make poor decisions or hate having to put in hard work but I love it.
