I'm currently playing totk using an emulator but own a physical copy. I would like to move my save file using jksv to transfer to my sysnand so I can continue playing on my console using ofw. I am using 90dns & airplane mode on a console with no accounts linked just for precaution. I have no games installed that I don't already own physically and the only homebrew apps I have installed are jksv and the ones from the jits aio.
Has anyone used this method without getting their console and/or account banned? If so, could you tell me how you did it? I'm assuming it's just launching cfw on your sysnand and restoring the save in jksv but I don't know if it's as simple as that.
I'm not exactly sure how they detect anything but from what I've heard on here is that using modded save files for games that use online functions could lead to those issues, but I have no intentions of using this for any other game.
Should there be any other precautions I should take when doing this? Would it be safe to continue playing on the same console with my account linked or would it be better to have another cleaner console to transfer the sava data to?

yes is safe if you keep measures to avoid banning.
What other measures should I take into consideration? Is keeping 90dns enabled and not having anything I don't already own installed enough? Would it be safe to link an account after restoring? I would like to only use homebrew just to restore the saves and then never touch it again but I have no idea if it would be safe to link my account to the same console afterwards without risking a ban.

https://rentry.org/AvoidSwitchBan answers a lot of your questions.
I would use a clean, stock Atmosphere install without anything (no All-in-one pack, no sigpatches etc), but the ini edits for DNS MITM (Nintendo URL blocking) and exosphere (serial number blanking) and just JKSV to inject the save.

Turn airplane mode on.
Shutdown Switch and boot to Atmosphere.
Inject save.
Shutdown Switch and boot without Atmosphere.
Use it like normal again.

besides the url told by @truth.37733 here on gbatemp, you can use the search function at top of page and find a trhead dedicated to ban https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub-warning.508710/post-9985568 is complete about all you need.

Thank you for this, before making this thread I formatted my sd card and did a clean install using the jits aio. Hopefully that counts as a fresh install of atmosphere but I'm still not sure. And I'm assuming since the game I am doing this for doesn't use online features it should fine? There wouldn't be some kind of mismatch with the save data getting overwritten that would flag my console? Apologies for all of the questions but I haven't ever had to avoid a ban as I've only ever used homebrew using emummc before this

Don't use AIO package, use clean Atmosphere from GitHub.

Regarding your other question: did you modify the save?
Appreciate the help, I did use amiibo on yuzu but that's about it. My save datas play time is about 50 hours, would that flag anything since the save data that I am overwriting is basically brand new?

I've initialized my console, reformatted my sd card, and now only have the github release + jksv

I'm not sure if initializing my console makes my sysnand out of the clear, so should I take any extra steps to clean it?
I should also say that I have used other homebrew apps in the past including tinfoil to install something, but this was all done on emunand/emummc so I'm not sure if it would be necessary to use a tool to clean something that was basically untouched. I also saw someone on here say that using a tool to clean your nand could cause your switch to get flagged for having too clean of logs but I have no idea if that's true or not. Is there anything else I should do before injecting?

Nobody said you should clean something.
Use Airplane mode, use exosphere blank prodinfo and use DNS MITM.
Inject save, shutdown and coldboot without cfw.
That's all
Do you know where I can find anymore info on how to set up both the blank prodinfo and dns mitm? Don't have any experience using either of these. Thank you so much for the help!!

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
