I have Tiramisu and it gave me the "update folder exist pls delete" warning
That's because you're still loading into cfw. The warning is normal, but you need the update folder to exist in order to download the system files decaffeinator deleted. You also need to not load into Tiramisu, and you need to disable the PayloadLoader from autobooting. Then you can go do the system update, after which point you can re-enable PayloadLoader to autoboot and delete your update folder again.

Just follow the steps in that link for unblocking updates.

When I Try to update it just says "The console is already updated"
Switch your booting back to the Wii U Menu and then try updating again.

You can do this by:\
1. Booting your Wii U (hold X if you have a default environment set)
2. Select "installer"
3. Press A on "check" > Boot options
4. Switch back to Wii U menu.
5. Go into your Wii U's settings and try updating again.

I gave up on this with my Europe Wii U as I couldn’t at the time use a gamepad as it fails updating and disconnects. This prevents me from updating using the system settings once I blasted everything with decaffeinator without pulling out DRC sim and the headache that is.

I used decaffeinator and DRC Sim back when Nintendo had the update servers offline so vWii would never download. I gave up back then.

Fast forward to recently.
I ended up using an extracted vWii nand over on Archive.org for a U.S. vWii on my Europe console via FTPing it to my console as Aroma was active and allowed FTP access.

All I had to do there was fix permissions via WUP Server using UIDPH Recovery Menu and I could boot vWii again but now in the US region at 60Hz.

I fixed the gamepad problem after this but I don’t feel like using Decaffeinator to build a more legit vWii at this point as I don’t use online services. I would also have to hope switching regions wouldn’t brick me like it did last time I switched regions and why I had tried decaffeinator in the first place.

Btw, if anyone is having gamepad update problems when the gamepad is the same region as the console, you can load up Kiosk Menu while Aroma DRC region-free is active and it will somehow push the update through if you run the updater in Kiosk Menu. Now I can use my gamepad even stock now.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
