Super Mario RPG has leaked online

To little surprise, Super Mario RPG has leaked a week ahead of its scheduled release date.

Pinned for a November 17th retail release date, the game has already been dumped and shared online. Super Mario RPG for Nintendo Switch is a remake of the 1996 classic Super Nintendo game - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

This game aged phenomenally well on the SNES and didn't need a remake.
Well, I'd wager a lot of gamers don't really have a SNES on hand. And us, euro-trash, were left behind because that one never came over our slower shores.

So, for those still burning, can now play it. Legitimately, that is.

Having an SNES isn't even the hard part. The cartridge in recent years has been major $$$ to obtain. I almost bought a JPN copy when I was in Tokyo last time cuz it's cheap there, even though I have an SD2SNES. I did buy a JPN Yoshis Island since the dialogue is superfluous in that game, but it's not for SMRPG.

Well, that retrogaming for ya. I just got the consoles and flashcarts. No way I'll fill the pockets of a filth pig.

The one or two games that are special to me still remain, while the rest were sold to another household long ago. For a very nice price.

Ever heard of emulators ? Playing the original Super Mario RPG is ridiculously easy nowadays.

About the remake, it is, as we've come to expect by current Nintendo standards, very cheap. I think it's best played on portable mode so that the cheapness gets less obvious.

You missed the point.

With regards to this game, I truly don't care. Didn't at the time, I don't now.

Yeah the retro games market has been insane ever since the pandemic, glad I bought my copy well before that.

Halo, released like last year or something and it SUUUCKED apparently
It's funny how words are getting interpreted by people who didn't played the game.

Nobody said it sucked. Actually it got received pretty nicely, very far from perfect or maybe not as good as Halo 3 but still pretty nice and it's the best Halo game 343 managed to make by far. Multiplayer had content issues at release but now that management has been replaced, the game is in the best state it's ever been. it's actually awesome.

I'm not into Sony games either, but to say nobody cares is nuts. People care about Nintendo leaks because the leaks are actually playable, that's really just about it.

Yeah, people only bother to leak those games because there's an extensive Switch piracy scene and you can play them on an emulator anyway. I assume it will be the same frickin' thing with Nintendo's next console

There was a patent for a dual-screen console, but to me, I feel like this is more of an idea than anything instead of an actual product. But nevertheless, I hope that the next Switch model would be much better in performance rather than relying on slow, outdated hardware.

Halo is such a classic that made the Original Xbox really special. Its still being played by hardcore fans through Insignia Live.

There's some hints that their next console will run on an Nvidia SoC capable of raytracing, but still way weaker than current-gen consoles. I would keep my expectations in check if I were you, Switch emulators wouldn't have been possible if they didn't choose 8 year old hardware lmao

Which ever employee(s) doing these leaks needs to be caught honestly, and I'm meaning those sneaking copies out from retail stock. It's not good that this happens literally every release these days. This really ruins the excitement for releases, let alone does it make it difficult to avoid spoilers and such because some people can't learn to shut their damn mouths, to be honest, I don't get why people just don't shut up about stuff like this until it's released, not that hard to wait in my opinion. But hey, a leak, yippee :glare:.

Can we do something actually cool now already?
It's not probably an employee doing this. Stores sometimes receive physical releases ahead of release date, and there's a software lock placed by Nintendo to make these cartridges unplayable before the official release. Homebrewers dump a NX Card Image w/o the lock and post it online. Boom, leaked.

Why the heck do they not leak PS5 or Xbox Series S/X games? Are they less hyped than Switch's exclusives? Just food for thought...
There is no food for thought. For one PS5 isn't hacked yet so leaking a game is impossible plus useless. You couldn't use it. Xbox can't be hacked so you can't leak those game and if you even could, you can't use them because again the xbox can't/isn't hacked. Switch is the only console thats hacked at the moment.
