I don't know why but suddenly my DS doesn't produce any sound from the speakers or from the headphones.

Anyone got any ideas why?

Then try showing it to an expert. That's why there are called 'experts'.

I think that the DS you bought was damaged originally. Show it to a know-it-all, and if he/she doesn't know, complain to Nintendo or the black market or wherever you got it from.

Ok let me rephrase then.

Is there a commonly known problem where the sound cuts out and is it easily fixable by me. I really don't want to have to look for my receipt from a year ago.

It has absolutely no sound at all? Have you tried changing the volume?

Try using earphones, if those work; your speakers are definitely messed up.

If not... Then...

Either way, send it to Nintendo to get it fixed.

16 years & 6 months later, This issue just ocurred to me, It is most likely due a Hardware problem, And in my case the audio wasn't simply playing because the upper screen had to be tilted a bit. To be honest, I bought this NDS Lite 3 years ago, And I don't know how damaged it was, It still worked pretty well nonetheless, Aside from the obvious, The upper screen's hinge is a bit damaged and blunt moves worsen it.

Incidentally, I found a video that explains how to fix this very same error, With a 3DS that is, And it envolves totally on Hardware. If you want me to send the video, DM me, Since the page won't allow me to submitt any links.

As a side note, I think NDS still has some value and 3DS comes very handy even in these days.
