As of today, April 8, 2024, online services for the 3DS and Wii U have been shutdown at 4PM PDT, 5PM MDT, 6PM CDT, and 7PM EDT for all games that use online services. This also means you can no longer use SpotPass and Nintendo Badge Arcade after this date and time has passed. Connecting to WiFi Networks and Download Play and StreetPass and Pokemon Bank will still work after this date and time has passed. However, there is an alternative to online services on the 3DS and Wii U called Pretendo Network, which is an online service replacement for the 3DS and Wii U. It's still a work in progress so some things may not work as intended and we also don't know when SpotPass/Nintendo Badge Arcade and every 3DS and Wii U game will be finished on Pretendo Network. There's also a Miiverse replacement called Rverse, but when you switch to Pretendo Network servers via Nimbus, it overrides Rverse.

Pretendo Network's Website: https://pretendo.network

Create your Pretendo Network account: https://pretendo.network/account/register

Login to your existing Pretendo Network account: https://pretendo.network/account/login

Install Pretendo Network: https://pretendo.network/docs/install

Link your Pretendo Network ID:

Note: You don't need a Wii U to link your Pretendo Network ID to your 3DS as you have redirected the link NNID servers to link PNID servers via Nimbus. Same thing goes to the Wii U, but it's the opposite way around. (You don't need a 3DS to link your Pretendo Network ID to your Wii U as you have redirected the link NNID servers to link PNID servers via Aroma.) Edit: It seems that Nintendo made a typo and went for Standard Time instead of Daylight Time, sorry for the confusion. Edit: It looks like rverse doesn't work anymore :(

I'm pretty sure Nintendo made a typo.
I'm not sure what's going on.

It's 5:07 PDT and i am still online for now.

Looks like their announcement was wrong, they are having trouble shutting down, or they changed their minds / had mercy in appreciation for the fans!

Then how am I still online?

Am I "grandfathered in" until I get booted / disconnect?

I think the servers have to be up for me to be online.

Only if you're on Wii U because that works for me still.
Same. WiiU MK8
Post automatically merged:

I'm getting 102-2160 when I try to link a new id (i created one via the link you provided) while connected to the pretendo network :(. This is the same error I receive when trying to go online in mk8 ("miiverse is down") as well. I tried using inkay with aroma (shows "using pretendo network" notification) and nimble in tiramisu; same error. Both were the latest stable ones from github. Should I be messing about with nightlies? Nightly inkay is curently identical to the latest stable release... I even tried disabling the inkay/nimble plugins and using SSSL to see if that would work : no dice.

I really hope I didn't have to set this up before the official servers went down...

Any ideas?

Edit: Still digging, nothing yet :(

The above shows this may have to do with certs. I have double checked the tls certs and the pem (which I think is only used by the internet browser app anyway) and they are up to date. I saw that pretendo.network was signed by google (GTS CA 1P5) which is not in the pem for the internet browser... Probably unrelated.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

** EDIT ** - Seems I am not the only one. https://github.com/PretendoNetwork/Inkay/issues/10

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Won't need a GPU with G series for emulation

not that, some psu like those corsair rm series stock cables have very big knicks that make it impossible to fit in there
