What the deuce is a QI charger, what do you mean? What's Cyanogenmod? What do you mean the USB port will fail? And I don't think a QI charger would even work with a 2012 Nexus 7, maybe a 2013 model.

Is this the TWRP thing you were talking about earlier? http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/103 I assume it is, so it's on the Google Play store? Weird lol. Anyways, my only reason I'm concerned is one, this is Christmas gift, and two, these are bloody expensive, I don't want to know how much he spent for a new one of these, that's why.

It is yeah, there's an alternative as well called clockwork mod.

I understand your concern especially if your not tech savvy but it really isn't too hard to do with minimal risk involved so long as you follow instructions, I've had one phone brick on me.... ever and even then 20 mins later and a stock ROM it was working again.

If you wanna do twrp from Google store which is more than safe to do, you would need to root first as the app would need that level of access. Google and manufacturers are on record saying that they have no issues with people loading custom roms or rooting devices but it would void warranty, again easy to work around with a clean stock ROM. The only company I've ever known to restrict this type of access is HTC.

Obviously your call whether you want to go ahead with this, just want you to know it is easy to do and comes with very minimal risk, I've rooted countless android devices and even do it for friends if asked to

That app will install it for you when you root, it good to have just incase something goes wrong, you can just restore the image from a backup even if you dont want to install a custom rom
Used nexus 7 goes for around $90 or so

Aha! Found out why it wasn't showing the prompts when I opened the apps! I need to set access to "prompt" and not "grant" that way, I can see the app prompts! Okay, now what?

How bad is the battery life now? Wouldn't I just be better off downgrading to 4.1.2 and get better battery life? And besides, what exactly is this doing? Not on low battery, but I don't see the point of doing this if it's gonna make me recharge my battery everyday or twice a day, wouldn't it be better to downgrade? I don't see how this gives me two OSes if it says 4.4.4.

its okay now that i been on the same ROM for a while, i was keep restarting nexus which kills battery life which i forgot to mention ... i read the higher the android firmware the more problems for the battery life. so using a 4.1 ROM could be better for battery life in fact.

But....what do I do now? The battery is at around 85% but, what do I do with the app once I open it? How does this actually give me 4.1.2 or whatever the OS I need for the Wii remotes? I don't know what the hell I'm doing, I need steps or something after opening the app and how to get 4.1.2 downloaded, assuming the Wii remote works on 4.1 or 4.1.2?

once you have installed all of the ones below...

check the multirom v30
check the recovery 2014-11-15 (0)

you will have the tools

you can install. 4.1 and have 4.4.4 and 5.0

to do this you need to download a 4.1 rom i recommend this http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=grouper&type=stable

get the cm-10.0.0-grouper.zip file. which is a 4.1.2 andoird rom.

once you have done that.. you need to go to the recovery which multirom installs for you... with that you install the rom as a secondary ROM.

Okay, open up MutliROM app, download those three things, reboot (most likely) then download that 10.0.0 ROM and place that on my device somewhere that ES file explorer can find?

yeah you need gapps too for google apps ecosystem which im having troubles finding...

try to find the one for Cm 10 please.

Shit...well, the MutliROM downloaded and installed the necessary three items, which didn't take too long then it prompted a reboot and so on. Are you telling me that we're screwed and can't continue with having both OSes? Well, that's just freaking wonderful, isn't it? Great, just great. Wonderful, now I'm screwed and can never have Wii remotes or 4.1. I downloaded the image just fine, but now, it's useless.

Edit Never mind.

Yeah, got ninja'd, downloading now. So, uh, now what? Do I place this somewhere, do I extract it? What do I do with this zip file? I really need more instructions than downloading it lol. So I need both this and that Cyanogenmod zip?

Flame do I need both that Cyanogenmod and this zip file? Now what? Place them on the phone, what do I do now? So freaking lost.

go to the recover, to do this open multirom with the three dots on the top right corner you should see reboot.. click recovery option.

once your are in recovery it should look like this

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
