Sky3DS works veeeery differently than Gateway.
Gateway needs a system exploit in order to work, a mistake Nintendo made to boot unsigned code.
Sky3DS on the other hand, works by emulating a real retail cart down to the finest detail. One main advantage that they claim (and seems to be true) is that it is unblockable, also that there is no mucking around with sysnand and emunand, no risk for bricks etc. Disadvantages however are that there is absouloutely no menu whatsoever, only way to switch ROMs is by pressing a tiny button on the cart.

So, just because Sky3DS works, doesn't mean that Gateway will have a breakthrough eventually

disadvantage of sky at the moment is the string of people getting banned online

ok but red button work on 9.5.0-22E ? i don't care about 10 game limit , 10 game is good
yes, it works on 9.5
keep in mind, before they released the "patch" (yeah sure, like they did not just lie about the 10 games to sell more units), 10 games was a hard limit. you had to buy another sky3ds to get more games
however, yes they have removed the stupid limitation by using a special tool, but why bother
but if you're on a budget, i guess red button would work
also don't forget about the cheap ass copies that just take the card and change the sticker. QQ3DS comes with a free microsd reader, a free r4 and is 5 euros cheaper so pick yer poison

i don't know how it works, but there's a special tool they released
just google sky3ds, and look their official instructions for breaking the red button card's 10 game limit

The way it worked initially didn't allowed you to change games.
The limitation was 10 played games on the flashcard, not 10 stored games on the SD card.
If you try to play an 11th games (even if you have less than 10 game on SD card) it didn't work and you had to buy a new flashcart.

But users found a workaround, so the team released new cards without that limitation.
If you buy the first flashcart batch you will have to use the trick to play more than 10 different games.

Buy the last version and you will be fine for future needs.

Have you tried downgrading your 3ds without having the nand mod? I have a European 3ds with 6.1.0-0E version. I actually want to downgrade because I have no Internet whenever I want to play with my gateway's games, but I have not made nand mod to my 3ds. I read the English manual linked by the official gateway site (here you are, http://maxconsole.com/maxconsole_files/v2.pdf ) and it does not say nothing about needing to have nand mod to downgrade. I wonder if someone here have downgraded its 3ds with no nand mod, and what are your feelings about this. Thanks
