Out of curiosity, how would I go about uninstalling the current .cia builds I have on my New 3DS XL? Can I just go into Data Management and delete the .cias that way or is there another way to go about deleting them?

Just asking because in case I want to delete the current .cia builds I have to update to new ones.
You don't really need to - you can just overwrite the existing .cia installs.

MGBA for you then.
Depends on firmware version. People using 9.2 should use gpSP because of the dynamic recompilation.

Make sure you're exiting the emulator and re-launching it when you switch to another game. Some cores have issues with that sorta thing. Same thing applies to SEGA CD games and to a lesser extent, Genesis games. Have you tried Sonic CD, btw?

Ive been playing a bit of Sonic CD and its locked at 59fps runs really good, but I have an .iso file with 24 .mp3s and it loads the .mp3 when I boot it but I never hear them in the game just the sound effects.

While Sonic CD and Knuckles Choatix work 59fps with no drop. I tried Virtua Fighter and got 30-35fps still playable but slow for sure. I tried Virtua Racer and it crashes right on the intro movie but seems the same speed.

I think any 3D games crash so fast there unplayable, it took a long time to get Virtua Fighter to finally play and seems disabling the audio driver or disable sound helps. But 2D games seem to work great, ill try some more 2D 32x games like Space Harrier my guess is it wont crash.

Also tried some CPS2 and they work full speed, I forget the fps but it maybe slows down a tad under 59fps but its fully playable. Tried Marvel VS Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha, Xmen vs Street Fighter, Puzzle Fighter, Waku Waku 7

I notice that Gpsp while it works Full Speed crashes with some of my games (Jet Set Radio) so maybe ill try some different versions. Anyone got 3D 32x games running for more than a little bit?

N3ds Gateway 9.0 Emunand
1/17 Stable Build but also tried 12/9 nightly

QuickNES for NES games, Genesis Plus GX for Master System, Picodrive for GameGear games, fMSX for MSX games. Gambatte is also basically full speed for GB/C games and more accurate than GameYob.
Shantae and games like that are still a bit slow. I wouldn't consider anything not fullspeed not playable. In the end, it's up to the user, I just wanted to point that out just in case someone evaluating their options come across this.

Is there any way to identify which retroarch cia is which from the 3ds menu as a lot of the icons are the same and the top screen just says libretro?

Best way to do so is to launch each one and just remember which is which.

If that doesn't work then just make a folder for each one and name the folder as the emulator.

This is all good to know, thanks. I wonder if we can get Sonic CD's music working by following the second-to-last post on this thread. I really hope I'm allowed to link to other forums here. If not, someone let me know.

I've done this for Sega Saturn games. I faintly remember mounting with daemon tools and using imgburn to make a bin/cue with the mp3 integrated. I'll try in a bit

Is gpSP worth for o3ds?

I don't have an O3DS anymore, but gpSP's CIA should run games a lot better than mGBA on it. You might need to use AGB_FIRM for games that are too slow even in gpSP though (but that has its own quirks, like motion blur, dimmed colours, and you can't inject saves from emulators yet).
