and you think a backup loader is going to appear in the next month?!
No, i think we'll get one tomorrow. D'oh! Just wanted to know if a backup loader, whenever we get one, would be able to play smo, or if it simply wouldn't be impossible due to some deeper firmware/crypto algorithm changes and not only keys.

gamecrypto? What is this, Denuvo for Nintendo Switch?
No, it's a key. Imaging a door.

You have 1 lock with 1 key. But for somereason someone managed to find a way to copy your key to open the lock. So now they can see what you have in your house.
So you get another lock with another key. So now you have two locks with two keys. We know that the first lock and key have a copy so we can't trust them. But we know that the new lock and key are safe since no one have manage to make a copy for that key.

That's a stupidly described way how the crypto works. They most likely use the 3.0.1+ crypto to protect against potential piracy and of course data diving.

Figured as much, good to have confirmation.

So it won't be playable on fw <= 3.0.0. even with a game loader?

A bootloader made in 3.0.0 or lower will not be able to run Mario (or FIFA, since it appears to also ship in 3.0.1). There would be no way to decrypt the files even if you dumped them, so they'd be useless to a loader. You'd have to find the 3.0.1 crypto-keys tucked away in the much more secure in 3.0.1 and use them to dump a decrypted Mario. And yes, they could also add flags that check for firmwares or spoofing or whatever, but those are easy to defeat once you have the decrypted file, which is the hard part.

Guys if you're on 3.0.0 or below just get a second switch like i did. I was going to update for Mario Odyssey but I want to have my cake and eat a second cake too

I wasn't aware people could fork out 300 dollars extra like it's chump change.

Or when you try to sell your updated switch no one will buy it cus everyone wants hackzzz

Not when you and your brother split the cost, or have Sonic Mania installed to the system and don't want to be out even more money, you don't. I seriously see nothing that the Switch can do in terms of homebrew the Wii U can't do.

Even so, people are acting like the homebrew on this will be somehow superior to any other hackable console.
Well, it is a fairly powerful console, and I'd like to see a lot of homebrew. Like the PSP days.

Doesn't matter.
I can wait :^)

I have faith that down the road we'll be able to play 3.0.1+ games in <=3.0.0 Switch consoles through one way or another.
Homebrew is more important to me than just one game.

Right, but what can it do that other consoles haven't done? I've asked this and no one is able to seemingly answer what. Aside from playing "backups", it doesn't do what hasn't been done before, no?

Edit: I think I'm gonna bail.

Well, it is a portable console, that has a lot more power for homebrew developers to play around with. That is good. Well, it's good if enough people make high-quality content for it. And again, I'm in the "I want it hacked just because" group.

PSX, N64 cores for RetroArch with no hiccups as with Wii U, since this is an ARM device, we can expect those cores and even PPSSPP to be included once RA is ported to it. Most of the cores are compatible with ARM devices, so that's a plus.

And don't forget, on the go :^)

Well, maybe when I get my job back, I can get a < 3.00 or below console. Until then, 3.0.1+ users are permanently SOL.

Even though there's no way or any hope for 3.0.1 users, like, ever. I see that as another PS3 3.51 BS situation :creep:

Emulators. Switch specs makes it a perfect emulation machine and is certainly something the wii u never got properly. Pretty sure dolphin could be ported to switch as a homebrew or app if there are patches for non legit installable stuff (even though it might run like crap or maybe decently, who knows).

Yeah, for only users who're on 3.0.0, good for them.

Yeah, good for them, because you were asking what would they get that the wii u cant do as of right now. There you got an answer.
