Ok, now I get why I couldn't install CFW earlier (I was using NAND exploit and my PS3 is NOR, and somehow didn't brick :P), now it seems that Ferrox is installing ok.
Should I do something else?
How can I play PS2 backups?

Too bad my phat ps3 ylod'd
Mine too and I managed to power it on and install CFW

use multiman or webbman to load your ps2 iso files for a external drive or internal hdd.

At least you can get a normal slim for less than $100 at gamestop. Trading in the super slim should cover most of it
Yeah... there's no gamestops or shit like that in this fuckign third world country called croatia... well atleast i can fuck with my friend's slim (maybe) XD

There is a tutorial on the webpage

http://redthetrainer.com/ps3
so if I understand correctly, what I need to do is:

1. update my ps3 to 4.82 ofw.
2. go to the browser and insert this link that you uploaded above.
3. I should click on "Ps3 4.xx Nor/Nand writer" link.
4. I select my type.
5. the ps3 would restart.
6. I will be able to now install rebug 4.82 as an update file

Did I understand this correctly or did I miss a step, also what is the point of online md5 checker?

You need the flsh.hex file on a flash drive as well.

The MD5 checker is only there if you want to check your hex file before flashing it

If you read the tutorial you would know...

If it takes more than 10min reboot and try again
don't proceed any further unless PS shuts down. I'll just wait i'm scwared to twurn it off.

So I have a fat ps3, but do I need some additional hardware for this? If so, thanks anyways.

Read and follow the guide. Im not trying to be short or arrogant. But every question of yours has been answered there so far.

As long as you follow it word for your you're fine.

There has only been 1 brick so far and it was user error

Is it normal for the exploit to fail a number of times? I got "SUCCESS..." twice, but both times the console just froze, so I waited 15-20 minutes and turned it off.
