Gaming AC New Leaf + Happy Home Designer? How to Connect?

Hi

My Girlfriend have a Original cartridge of Animal Crossing New Leaf.

I am not able to connect her original game (AC-NL) with a .cia installed via freeshop (in this case Happy Home Design)
But Is there any technique or option in Luma that should be enabled so that both games can connect to each other?

Any Ideas?

Did you played ACHH? If AC-NL detects a ACHH save it will pop up in the beginning of the game, when loading the city
If you didnt even played it will not work

both saves are created, and with a lot of hours dedicated for each one.

Do you select the "Connect with HHD" option on the main menu and it doesn't detect it, you mean?
Are both titles from the same region?

My Girlfriend installed the game in version EU, and the cartridge is in US version.
