Pirate group release Switch Master Key

Underground piracy scene release group known as BigBlueBox (BBB) have just released a master key for the Nintendo Switch.

In their 60th Nintendo game cartridge dump - a process where the group rips all of the data from a retail Nintendo Switch cartridge and then uploads it to the internet, is an .nfo file, an information requirement when packaging illegal warez. It is in this file that BBB have revealed the first of 32 Nintendo Switch Master Keys, used for firmwares 1.0.0-2.3.0:

It is currently impossible to play any cartridge dumps on Nintendo Switch hardware.

I honestly feel like nintendo doesnt care that much. Only a tiny segment pirates games out of everyone that buys consoles and I imagine that pirates pickup consoles when the hacks come out.

Why?? So big yay for the people on 2.3.0 and lower... but boohoo for everyone that will install updates.

Let's hope they can make something useful with this.

32 master keys? From their nfo it looks like there are currently 4 master keys. Where did 32 come from?

First, thanks to @SciresM that explained it easy and quick to the non pros (i include myself there)
Second, the key is forbidden in the temp, so stop asking for it, the people who can do something with it know where to find it, if you don't, there's nothing for you.
And lastly, and a bit off topic...

Wow. Can't believe it was found that early. Switch isn't even a year old. Ofcourse for 1.0-2.3 but still.

Can't tell for sure if the Switch was the only one that early since I don't know th older console days when hacking just came out.

4.x keys when? Nah, just kidding. #2early4piracy

I'm also wondering...if the key to the lower firmwares is xxxxxxxxxxxxx*, does that mean the one to the higher firmwares is yyyyyyyyyyyyy? And how is THAT key addressed? The overlord key? The mistress key?

Now you understand why they call 'em keyX and keyY. ;) KeyXX is female and KeyXY is male. Now we just need a sector0x69.bin huehue.

From what I understand Nintendo only have 32 keys max for the Switch. 4 have been discovered so far (afaik).

It means they can explore the firmware and further crack the Switch using a PC. Nothing is off limits now, but only on those lower firmwares, for now.
