That's hella cheap. Im genuinely surprised, and the game switching thing is a huge surprise to me too, to be perfectly honest.

Genuinely considering buying one at that price.....

This would only apply if the software has been licensed. And given that it's primary focus is on piracy, which can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, I hardly think they would go though the hassle trying to obtain one.

Its a simple Fusee Gelee playload. So yes. You don't even need to reverse engineer the code. Just pull it off the Teensy or modified Aurdino board they have it on .
You can bet this software they have on the dongle/OS is encrypted and obfuscated to hell and back. Like the PS3 scene this will eventually be reverse engineered and free for everyone but that will take some time. Not going to be as easy as sniffing what's going in/out of the dongle i'm sure of that.

I bet that the only thing dongle is doing, is injecting payloads to load the cfw from sd. So nothing interesting there I gues.

not talking about the reseller website btw, the other guy just thought the wholesale price is the price for consumer

I'm not buying one because some people have already made rcm jigs and booted fusee gelee on it for free with emulators and such already

Usb dongle, I assume they mean a standard usb C cable.

Tool, I assume its that weird chip thing that you stick into the bottom of the switch. Basically the thing that pushes the payload. And the OS, its the CFW.

Now it says "use once to install OS" which is weird because if they mean that you don't need to reinstall the OS with restarts then its awesome.

If not then this thing is only useful for running game dumps.

I hope they allow people to use other tools to install their "OS".
Haha. :)

My speculation goes the other way around. ;)

(Dongle is the payload pusher, Tool is the jig; No USB cable whatsoever) In brackets, because thats not that important to understand their concept - if they say, that they also can sell "CFW only" at which point all dongles and tools would only be a "one time only affair".

Also I don't mind buying "their" tools, if their are "good" - but buying their CFW...? (= chaining yourself together with the fait of the company for worse for ware - is a different thing. What ever they install "semi-permanently" on the switch they would now be responsible to "service" for the entirety of the Switches lifetime, regardless of what Nintendo does. )

Thats "interesting". As in "definitely wait and see on that one...".

Yeah one or the other and maybe both are locked down in some way. But something is gonna be locked down to stop people from just taking all their work. I doubt this will be freely available anytime soon. Unless you pay for it your best bet is to wait for atmosphere as it's gonna come out the gate with homebrew..But someone will soon add backups.

I'm sure the moment another CFW comes out they won't back this any longer "now be responsible to "service" for the entirety of the Switches lifetime" that goes out the window. This stuff doesn't stick around forever..At least not in any scene i've been apart of..This will one day be A thing of the past. If u can't wait then go for it. But u will get everything they offer for free. This is A quick money grab if i've ever seen one.

Something tells me that the "one time use" part means that you need to keep your Switch in sleep mode rather than power down. I feel like this won't be the "untethered" option that people want. Might be wrong tho.

I hope that's not the situation because that doesn't sound like a "one time use".

Yeah, but also the most unneeded and unnecessary. :)

Because a few moments ago we were under the impression, that all hacks are "attached to dongles" at least for the mid term future.

Now its "software only" after "one time hardware use"? I'd say good for convenience, but they destroyed their own market? ;) Ok...? ;)

Now they are hoping that their DRM holds? ;)

Nah. Cant be. Complaints to happy consumers ratios would be "unfavorable".. ;)

edit: Let me rephrase that. If they try to pull that - their are stupid. ;) (Leave me a window open, for when the announce that this is actually their business model.. ;) ).
