Sorry, but that doesn't make sense to me...

Using a Switch' Cert to download from CDN occured just 2 weeks ago.
There was no way to do back in august 2017

The guy in question is ShinyQuagmire he's been involved in the sceen for a good while and I can say without a doubt what we plebs see isn't all they have. So it's possible they had a CDN downloader a long time ago.

quick question, are bans tied to console id? example, if there are 5 users on a single switch, and one boots to cfw via rcm or loads backups via the SX, maybe even goes online, do you think the ban hits all users on that console?
If not, I'm predicting throwaway accounts just to update game dumps and going online until ban, then -> new dummy account

Yeah, i know ShinyQuagmire.

But that's only speculation. By that short tweet no one can tell what he really did.
And if his switch was really involved.

I don't think that this thread leads anywhere useful.

Anyone should just keep in mind:
Messing around with the system in an unintended way,
using CFW/Homebrews online, downloading from Nintendo servers,
ALWAYS brings a ban risk.

Yes, most likely consoles are getting banned.

Love that a ban stops you from accessing the eshop, thus preventing you potentially buying games in the future. It's almost like Nintendo doesn't want your money.

Ban from online gaming and trading sure, but not allowing you to buy games is rediculous.

They would be banning via Switch Authentication ID, so the console would be the target of the ban. All the accounts on the switch would work but not be able to access the features mentioned by Shiny.

If that is the case, only thing I can think of to stay safe is just going offline for anything not "official"...
and maybe even going as far as shutting down the switch when you're done with homebrew-cfw-backups and removing the sd card to prevent potential storage check by Nin.

Even that won't be 100% safe. The system keeps a launch history on NAND. That persists even after a full reboot.
If Nintendo really wants to check, they'll find traces.

Only way to be (almost) safe, would be to use emunand (offline)
and reboot to sysnand.

Yes yes I know that, I was just stating common sense. For a full trace wipe I guess something like injecting code before restarting would be necessary.

the 3.0 HBL install a ".nsp" file into the root of your USER partition, to launch the HBL, I won't update my 3.0.0 until we have a way to clean up the nand
