Sony confirms that the PlayStation 5 will be region-free, and other details, in new FAQ page

ps5555.png

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Sony has confirmed that just like the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5 will also be region-free. While the confirmation may not be the most shocking detail about the console, many can be relieved that Sony's next-gen system will be able to play imports without worry. The information was revealed in the latest PlayStation Blog, posted today, which rounds up questions customers might have about the PlayStation 5 and answers them. Other details mentioned include future system updates for the console that will allow support for M.2 SSD upgrades, 3D surround sound audio for speakers, and 8K output. You can view the full FAQ which is quite thorough by checking out the PlayStation Blog link below.

The PS5 & PS5 all digital look pretty much the same only one doesn't have a disc drive. I can't help but wonder what would happen if we put a disc drive on the all digital & put system files from a regular PS5 in it. It would be a nice way to avoid paying $500

Given that modern consoles require the disc drive and motherboard be paired together with the same signature, there's basically 0 chance you can do that unfortunately.

As to the FAQ, no browser is a little disappointing but TBH I don't think I ever used a console web browser for anything other than exploits anyways so meh. As Blizzard would say, "dO yOu NoT hAvE pHoNeS????" :P

That sucks. I wish that Sony had something similar to Xbox All Access. Pay off your new console month to month.

What I like about Xbox is free cloud saves too for easy cross generation save transfer.

Correct me if I am wrong but I can unplug my external HDD from Xbox one X and plug it in Xbox series X and it will shows my already installed games on the HDD right? After same account setup of course.

Does PS5 feature a web browser?

No, the PS5 system doesn’t include a dedicated web browser app.

So does that mean we have to download web browser app or does that mean there will be no web browser at all ?!

Some day, the 667GB ( lol ) inbuild 'soldered to the mainboard' SSD chips begin to suck, lets say in about two years!?, its time to trash the whole PS5 into the bin. WTF

No browser? Just like the switch's no vc? Is this to protect the console from hacks?

I believer the hacker developers will find a way to hack it without a browser. The browser for exploitable is not always the answer, anyway. They are not stupid, you know.

To be honest. I don't used it either. Its good for jailbreak and that's about it.

I think that's why they took it out because of the HEN/MIRA exploit. The web browser wasn't really that good anyway and considering all the multimedia apps its not really needed

Perhaps but the hackers will find a way for the different way for PS5. Look at PS3, Look at PS3 ? It does have browser but they jailbreak it for other way. PS4 was an option for browser. PS5 ? What's next ? They have their own trick when its release on Nov 12 and Nov 19. Don't lose your faith. :)

Highly improbable. Solid state storage is the last component that's going to fail in that system, wear leveling techniques and new developments in NAND have greatly extended the lifespan of SSD's. On average they work flawlessly for 10 years of heavy, daily grind. When Google tested modern modules in their data centers, they clocked 6 years on average per drive, and those drives were running operations 24/7.

You're right, I like SSDs too :)
but I hate the fact that it isn't exchangeable... without a good IR rework station ofc ;)
