After months of rumors, the long awaited relaunch of PlayStation Plus is here. Sony has revealed that they will be merging both PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus into the new Playstation Plus, which will have three different tiers. "Essential" is the same PS+ experience as before, with free games monthly and online multi-player. Meanwhile, the "Extra" tier adds a catalog for downloadable PS4 and PS5 titles for 14.99 a month. The Premium tier has the biggest amount of content on offer, featuring cloud streaming on PS4, PS5, and PC, as well as access to a retro trove of classic PlayStation games from the PS1, PS2, and PSP, with download options available. Time limited game trials are also part of this plan. This one is $17.99 a month.

The new PlayStation Plus will launch this June. Those current subscribed to PlayStation Now will automatically be converted into the Premium tier. Certain markets will have a Deluxe tier, which is just slightly cheaper Premium but without the cloud streaming.

This is bullshit. In Jap they only have to spend roughly the equivalent o f$10.50 for the max package, while the USA market has to shell out $18
you don't know anything do you Japan are so "traditional" they are practically racist to non asian people (not to hate crime extent though) but you try working for nintendo directly in Kyoto as a non Asian I've heard they disregard your degree and use you as an errand boy and nothing more

Yay! This is just what I wanted! But almost $20 a month? That’s to much for me…

I mainly see the same services rebranded like PsNow, as for me gamestreaming won't work for me

And that's exactly what the rumors were when they first appeared. That they were going to merge the services and add a couple other bonuses/tiers. As far as streaming goes, it's mostly only PS3 games that are not downloadable. However, currently PS Now can only download to PS4 and PS5, not PC. We don't know if that is changing or not, yet, unless I missed something. I have a PS5 so it really doesn't matter to me, but I think having the option for those without a PS4/PS5 would do nothing but boost subscriptions. Would be dumb of them to keep downloads limited to consoles.

It's only $10 a month if you get a year. So same price as Game Pass and less than Game Pass Ultimate. Plus, if you'd read other comments before posting, you'd know there are cheaper ways to get subs. Not to mention there are sales on subs several times a year.

$120 a year for the highest tier is only $10 a month. The same price as PC or console Game Pass, and less than Game Pass Ultimate. Seems like a fair enough deal to me. Plus as has been mentioned, there are cheaper ways to get subscriptions than directly through Sony.
Still better than NSO

i don't know about this... PS3 get's the shaft cause of cloud streaming and i wonder if you can still get PS3 DLC working but i doubt it. (unless DLC works on PS5)
Thankfully, most PS3 games included are "definitive" editions that include essential DLC, like Mortal Kombat 9 or Injustice 1.

Sorry, if I understand:

if you have PS+ (60$) > You get PS+ essential (60$). same price, same service.

If you have PSNow (60$) > You get PS+ Deluxe (100$ !!!!), but without streaming or PS3 games.... which you had so far for less money ! what a Ripoff !!!
You get access to the service for your current remaining price/time, right? or you get less time calculated based on the 60% of the remaining time to compensate missing price?
You get deluxe, and if you don't want to pay 100 on next renewal, you cancel your subscription!
You played streamed PS3 and PS4 games.... and you lost your access !!!

If you have both PS+ (60) and PSNow(60) > You get PS+ Premium (120$), same price than if you already had both services. you'll get PS1/PS2/PSP ... eventually.

first and last tier, nothing actually changed.
for users with PSNow only who didn't need PS+/online gaming/cloud savegame, they are screwed. they can't even continue playing their streamed games they currently have and will lose.

Why create this middle, useless, broken service ? they could have added all the titles they wanted directly to existing PSNow service.
Now easier ! 3 services instead of 2 ! soo better

And when they say "adds up to 400* titles", it's NOT new added games to the PSNOW, it's added games to the PS+ essential !! Look at the sentense formulation "you get the same thing than Essential +400 titles".
which means you actually get PSNow existing PS4 titles.

And when they say "adds 340* digital games", it also feels like they adds PS3 and PS2 classic titles already present on PSnow that you got removed and forbidden from the middle ground service.... not new ones.

I agree, it's nice to get ALL for 10$/month

I just feel sorry for users who only wanted and had PSNow until now and don't want PS+ but lose titles access and get increased price for second tier.

Edit:
quote from First post said:

ah wait, I guess I misread. they get premium? the one at 120$ when they paid 60$ so far. it feels they get a gift for the remaining time of their subscription.
But they get a 100% increase pricing on their next renewal.

But I can't find where the information on the first post comes from. not the from source.

It all depends on what those "beloved PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3? titles" are, and even if they start with a small number and start adding incrementally, providing both a variety of games and updates/ improvements in visual quality for said games to go with it (i doubt it for the latter), then it'll would be worth it. PS1/PS2/PSP emulation is useless to me without those improvements.
As for the Cloud Streaming for PS3 games, they don't wanna port them or make them playable on PS5, they know it's a hassle, and this is quick shortcut in giving people what they want.

This is better than I was expecting. I don't mind the £10/mo if the catalogue is good and not shovelware.

Edit: It's actually just over £8/mo so even better. I just hope that the option to download instead of just stream is there for all the games I want to play.

Right. Basically, people who subscribed to ONLY PS Now will have to pay twice as much if they want the same features, because an ONLY PS Now sub will no longer be available. There ARE some added benefits through to the higher tiers - so it's not like they just 1:1 merged PS Plus and PS Now.

All that said, if someone is having significant difficulties paying an additional $5 per month, perhaps paid gaming services should be placed at a lower priority on someones list. :)
