It doesn't crash when you start a new game. It fails to load the map when you use the teleporter into the first map after you select the difficulty on the sort of lobby where you start. It takes a minute or two and then the game's console says "load failed"
It seemed to work fine if i resume my previous saved file, i didn't get to complete a level to see if the loading of the second one is successful tho, but the level i was in loaded just fine. Hope this is fixable, you're very close!

I only tested it on a new3ds, on which everything seems to run fine.
Have you tried lowering the __stacksize__ a bit? As that's the single change made.

I'm an idiot, How do I install mods?

Create a .xml shortcut for each mod you want to launch, like this:
https://github.com/masterfeizz/ctrQuake/blob/master/tf.xml

I've just compiled the ctrQuake hardware rendering branch. I did modify it a bit, but mainly due to the lack of touchscreen/circle pad support (I just used the code from the main ctrQuake branch). The zip includes the 3dsx/smdh and cia files. I also included my modification to the source if anyone wants a peek. Have fun =)
hey wavy, glad to see someone properly compiled the hardware render branch! sorry if im just dumb but sadly the circle pad support doesnt seem to work when i install it, touchscreen is working perfectly though so im a lil confused, ik u compiled this a while ago now but is there anything im probably doing wrong?

Does the circle pad work in the regular version of ctrQuake?

Glad you're enjoying it. Main reason as to why I removed C-Stick support is because the compiler gave errors from the C-Stick code. I recall the issue being that the code checking to see detect if the system was a N3DS was undefined, and it seeemed to of happended when I added the original input code to the hardware rendering codebase. I'll play around with it to see if I can get the C-Stick working again.

Hi,

I'm new in this section, I've got a problem with ctrQuake, I tried to install my comercials versions of quake with my mods but it doesn't work, the app doesn't seems to recgnonize the .pak1 file, I've already tried my official .pak games and mods on ndsl & dsi, the files were ok and work fine on those devices.

On my N3DS, I've installed my files like that :

- The ID1 folder with the two .pak files (0 & 1) is placed on my sd here :

root/3ds/ctrQuake

-Mods folder, .3dsx, .smdh, .xml files are placed here :

root/3ds

I've launched the mod (Alien Quake) with homebrew launcher, it's still doesn't work, if I replace the pak0 by the pak1 of the comercial game and removing pak0 (or not, I tried both) same result...

I don't really know how to install it correctly if someone can help it could be cool :)

Thx in advance

EDIT : ok I've fixed the problem it works fine now.

I can't get the last attached .cia GL version of this with stereoscopic 3D enabled to run.
This is the one I mean: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-ctrquake-quake-1-port.400170/post-9565548

The console after starting it says it can't find "touchpadOverlay.bin".
/3ds/ctrQuake/ indeed has the keyboard_overlay.bin and touch_overlay.bin and I've tried renaming touch_overlay to "touchpadOverlay.bin" as well. In camelCase.

Where is this build looking for these bin files? Ran a grep search for the console output in the included source from a build just before this one, but I can't find it.

I don't get how this thing works, man. I downloaded the .3dsx file, and it just crashes when I try to boot from Homebrew Launcher.

"FindFile: can't find gfx/pop.lmp
Playing Shareware version.
FindFile: can't find gfx.wad
Sys_Error: W_LoadWadFile: couldn't load gfx.wad
Press START to exit"

No such files exist on any of these ctrQuake links I've downloaded. Installation guide tells me I have to place the pak1.pak folder into the "id1" folder. None of these files or versions I've downloaded contain any such folder, let alone a ctrQuake folder. I created them both myself, but same results.

I've downloaded the cias, 3dsxs, zips, source code zip, and source code tar.gz

None of these files the thing speaks of exist in any of these downloads.

PLEASE HELP.

Thanks.

come on, man. you have to supply the game file yourself. it's most likely the assets of the game. that's why he can freely release this.

in his defense, OP says it includes the shareware version of the game, that should be enough for it to boot me thinks. But yes, you don't want the shareware version anyways

"C'mon, man"? Well, we hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created equal by the...Oh, you know the thing! *Ahem*

Sorry, man. I'm still a n00b. Never know what the Hell I'm doin'. I did manage to get OpenLara running without having to come here and beg for help, though. So, there's that. And what placebo_yue said. I thought it came with the freeware version pre-installed. And the tutorial basically said that all I gotta do is throw that pak file in there. *shrug*
But I will now search for the appropriate assets. Thank you.

Thank you, friend.

EDIT: IT'S ALIVE!! What a blast from the past. Literally haven't played this since the freeware version on my grandparents' PC in the late 90's. 3D effect's a little wonky, but still really cool that it's there.
Thank you, all you wonderful computer wizards. :yay3ds:

Is there any way to adjust the turn sensitivity when playing with circlepad strafe set to OFF? Adjusting the circlepad sensitivity seems to only change forward and backward movement sensitivity.

Found it! It's "m_side" in config.cfg. I set it to 7 and that seems like a good speed.
