Experimenting with LED-illuminated cartridges...

They look much cooler in person. Can't imagine it would affect battery life much either. The red cartridge has a red LED in it, because it looked pink when I used white. If anyone wants an LED added to the cartridges from my Etsy shop, it's only an additional $5 to add inside. I generally try to center the LED, but it can really be placed anywhere inside the cartridge because it's so small.

Holy shit... Would it be possible to put multiple (like 5) in one clear cart and make a rainbow or something? That'd be cool for a flash cart honestly!

I don't know what DSX LEDs are. I use the LEDs you get from strands of fairy lights.
Somewhat prior to the DSTwo/iplayer/ismm enhanced flash carts for the DS was the ds xtreme/DSX, that you seemingly have not heard of it says about how well that went. One of the features it decided it wanted to tout in all the advertising was dancing LEDs

Or indeed a forum search for xtreme LEDs/ "DANCING LED'S DUDE"

Not practically... But a single RGB LED would suffice... Otherwise you risk pulling too much current from the cart slot and/or risk blowing a fuse. I also noticed that the Blue LED I used sucked up more power than the others, as noted by the GB Micro's red battery lights coming on in my other blog post. The other LED colors didn't do that.

Huh, that's an interesting flash cart, sadly gimped by just 512BM of flash space. That's like 2 or 3 DS games, tops. Or a single untrimmed Pokemon game.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
