Review Approach:

The usual Update every Year.Nothin really new......or ?
The actual official licensed F1 Game for 2020.....unfortunately not really.
Thanks to Steam,I can play the Game for free for 3 Days.:)

I did not read about it before (which Tracks and "new" Features and so on).

This "Review" is based on Single full,100 Percent Races (Full Free Practice/Qualifying/Race) with 60 % Opponent Strength.
So it is not really a FULL Review and based on my personal Impressions.
(Personal I do not really need a Career Mode or F2 Season..)

The first Thing I have noticed, you can choose between Direct X 11 or 12 on the Startup.
Proceeded to the Settings,I tried all Graphics Setting to FULL on 1980x1080 - (GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB Ram)
And to my surprise, the Game runs better than the 2019 Version ?!?
Very strange....

Graphics are....as ususal, not really better than the 2019er Version.
Weather/Effects are great.

20201026143154_1.jpg20201026143731_1.jpg20201026143813_1.jpg20201026144131_1.jpg20201026144104_1.jpg

Racing Physics are good, sometimes very "strange".
For Example driving Side-by-Side with the Tyres next/in to the Opponents Car Side Boxes results in............driving Side by Side....no Collision,no Spinning,no "Flying over the Tyre Car.....nothing.

But more Strange (stranger than in a real F1 Race..) are the "Virtual Stewarts"....
Most of the Times you got Penalties "0.3 Seconds" after a Collision (and you do not caused it really, but the Stewarts are sure you are....)
The Safety Car is deployed "0.5 Seconds" after a Crash.....wow so fast.:D
Formation Lap is a Catastrophe.....you have to drive so slow that you arrive the Grid with "2 Minutes Delay"...or you are too fast and then you have to wait until the Computer is correcting the Grid..facepalm.gif
Thank God,you can turn it off in the Options.

Another very annoying Thing is the In/Outlap/Cooldown Lap..simply not present....you get Yellow Flags and Penalties when you are "too slow"...not real realistic.
The Opponents are so dumb on 60% (it is really the Level HARD !!)
Avoiding Collisions ? No Chance. And guess what happens next ?
Correct, you got a Penalty.....but thats ok with Time, you got Penalites for nothing like in real Life...

So,full Races can really, really turn in frustrating and annoying Races....

BUT the really annoying and absolute not understandable Point:

After 6 (big) Updates with many Modification to the ACTUAL real Season (black Mercedes Team for Example) they did not
changed the Track List !!!
And in July the finally should have known about Corona...and the Track Changes in real Formula 1....
Is it really so difficult for ~70 Euros to make the Tracks "downloadable" and "alter" the Race Track Order ? Or do a "custom" 2020er Season with the real Tracks ?
The Grand Prix/F1 Modding Scene lives from these Things the last 15 Years
That is for me the real biggest negative Point on the 2020 Version...with official Licenses,Drivers,Cars....

Again please...that for ~70 Euros ? Your Choice,my fellow Formula 1 Fans.

..for me,I am very,very happy,thanks to Steam,
they gave me the Chance to "test" the actual Version including the latest Update(s) and for me,as a Formula 1 Fan,the F1 2020 Version is a clear NO.

Thank you for Reading.:)

(Please do not forget, this is based on my personal Experiences with the Game and my personal Point of Views/Opinions.:))

Verdict

What I Liked ...
  • - very nice Graphics
  • - many Options
  • - very good Weather Effects
  • - F 2 Mode
  • - Actual Teams and Drivers
  • - Zandvoort and Hanoi Tracks
What I Didn't Like ...
  • - No "real" 2020 Calendar
  • - No Cooldown/In and Outlap
  • - Formation Lap is still catastrophic
  • - little small and not important Bug(s)
  • - for Example: sometimes old Tyres suddenly became "new (shiny Surface) after driving through Dirt..
  • - Virtual Stewarts are......out of the Question (worst than in real F1 Races)
  • - Cameras (mostly the TV) still not fully/free adjustable
8
Gameplay
- still the only Choice in actual Formula 1 Racing - it could make Fun and good Races - for F1 Fans it is ok - for real F1 Fans....still have to wait for the "perfect" Game.

Presentation
As last Year....
-
Lasting Appeal
No Rating.
7.5
out of 10

Overall

If you have the 2019er Version you maybe do not really need it,maybe better wait for the 2021 Version or a Price Reduction/Price Offer.
