I don't have this problem atm, since I have easy access to my router. I will note it for future reference though, so thanks for posting it.
It will be fine to allow the update. If your 360 is fairly new then it will be flashed with iXtreme 1.5, since it will have the Lite-On DVD drive. It will not matter anyway, as long as your backups are stealthed.
The 360 does have a very noisy DVD drive. NXE does enable you to install games...

I have a banned 360 that has just gone RROD on me for a second time. I am now considering purchasing a new machine, so as to kill two birds with one stone. I would appreciate some advice on the following issues:
1. If I purchase an Arcade, would it be safe to use the HDD from my banned 360...

I think the dashboard looks OK. MS is finally catching up to the Xbmc team. It's only taken them a few years. Unfortunately, whilst the 360 is a great games console, it sucks as a multimedia device. The HDD is way too small (and upgrades are overpriced) and the fan sounds like an aircraft...
