I often have a quick look at the portal page but it strikes as not being particularly interesting! It's not that it's bad or anything it's just that it doesn't seem to carry much news. For example if you come to the forums you find all these threads talking about new flash carts that have just been released and all these tools etc but very rarely do you see these things getting a mention on the 'front' page where in my opinion people might notice it a bit more rather than having 2 or 3 topics about the same thing. At the moment there are 2 threads regarding the ecube thing because there was no single source of information on the site. There are thousands of members on this site so I don't see getting news being a problem!

I like it when the little bits of news that do appear alongside the releases on the main page happen; I'd absolutely love to see more ~ It's nice to see people in GBATemp keeping up to date on the latest news, plus there's less chance of course that someone else will start a duplicate thread.

Things to consider? Well if (like at the moment) the threads are posted in the Magazine news section it would kind of void much of the use of the other forums (eg. GBA Emulation, GBA Devices and Utilities etc..) so prehaps the front page threads could be posted in the revelent section as well?
Also it would have to be decided what sort of and how much news gets put on the front page, plus the obvious question of do the staff have time to do all of this?

Meh, anyway whatever happens it's not like I can't live without it ~ I check over half a dozen gaming/emu news sites each morning, often several times a day so I'm fine... I'm sure others are capable of popping their head round a site or two occasionally, or at the very least read Jumpmans gaming news for the week thread if they want in on the info.

We did indeed post about the Sharky virus. You may notice that the news post was EDITED and declared loudly that it was virused.

You give us less credit simply because you don't pay attention.

I'm sorry! You've got the wrong end of the stick. My whole point was that it was posted on the portal because it was important and of interest. Sorry to have offended, my grammer wasn't the greatest in that sentence

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
