What would be required for such a feat to be accomplished?

I know there's tools available to unpack and modify the game files but aside from that what else would be needed?

While we are at it, can someone teach me how to use the SSR effects and other effects Reshade offers or does Reshade need something extra to work on emulators?

The animations are totally different, though. You can probably tell how much more detailed the faces are in Definitive Edition. You can't just place them in the Wii game and expect it to look decent.
Also, this isn't as important, but Definitive Edition adds facial animations outside of motion capture cutscenes, whereas the first game only has mouth movements.
Switch emulation is going fine, just be a little patient. Hell, RyujiNX supports resolution scaling (though it runs Xenoblade at 5fps on my laptop).
