Currently have a Dell 20' monitor 2007wfp or something like that. too lazy to check.
I've been wanting to upgrade to a 30' or a 24-25' atleast within a reasonable price range.
Something withing a 200-300 price range, w/ a resolution of 1920 x 1200.
I run my desktop and 360 through the same screen.
Desktop through HDMI, 360 through VGA.

I had these in debate.
Hanns.G 30 in.

ASUS 25in.

is it a noticeable/worthy size up for the price? money's tight, seeing as I just paid my college tuition and spent near another 1k on books and materials.
Not really too tech savvy, nor am I extremely set on the highest refresh rate, etc. etc.

I just want something that wont have any ghosting affects when toggling between 360 and desktop, will be running pretty well out of the box, no dead pixels, very good lifespan, etc.

also, if you have another suggestion of a monitor, that is roughly 30' and around the aforementioned price range, then feel free to recommend it.

Edit: also, it has to have hdmi, and a vga output also. Some newer ones skip the vga output and just put a dvi one. Problem is DVI doesn't carry audio, and I can't find any 360 cables that'll go to a monitor via dvi and carry audio along a separate line. inb4 Make a custom one. I've seen tutorials of how to do this, but don't feel comfortable doing so.

No suggestions at all? No one has opinions on the monitors suggested or has a different one they'd like to recommend?

Bump, since it's been two days and no replies. D:

I agree, HDTV's are much more practical, and cheaper, with a lot more options.

I bought an LG 22" with a native resolution of 1680x1050 for 240 Euros at the time, which is not that great, but it is a nice screen, OK latency (5ms - TN Panel) and has everything you need (composite, component, scart, VGA, HDMI, 3.5mm audio-in, TV tuner - not HD, that's the only con).

With it I have my Xbox 360, Wii, and PC hooked up, and with the press of a button on the remote control I can switch between the three instantly.

It's great for students like me, with not that much space, and with High Def needs.

It will accept, 420i/p, 720i/p, and 1080i/p, but 1080 is obviously downscale to it's native res (1680x1050), but it does a pretty good job doing so.

(P.S. After getting used to the new resolution; I had 1024x768 before, I added my old monitor to the setup, so I not only have more screen real estate - 1680x1050 + 1024x768 - 22" + 15", but when I'm playing games on my Xbox 360, I can have my web browser/work on the second monitor.)

I suggest just buying a regular PC screens

HDTV's cost twice as much at almost the same exact screen size

there are 1080p 23" screens for $180

If you want a quality 30" monitor look for a Dell 3007WFP or 3008WFP. Uses a S-IPS panel, which offers some of the best color reproduction, contrast, and has minimal ghosting.

Though, it has a $1000+ pricetag.

This is true, i'm almost positive. I've looked on the market for both, and this seems to stand true for the most part.

Yeah, that price tag is WAAY hefty. my OP was a 200-300 (350 if its worth it) price range. That's why those two links are posted.
I think the Asus is nice, but not as much real estate as a 30", but has a refresh rate of 2m, haven't read any reviews of ghosting, etc.

anything under 12ms should not create ghosting, or its very unnoticeable
alot of companies throw terms around like GTG, that dont mean anything, n00b bait
