hello, is there any general consensus on what is the "safest" custom firmware for Nintendo switch. Or "safer" settings to use
I just want to use checkpoint & pkhex on Let's go Pokemon and play online.

There is no safe method currently. If you use hacks/cfw and go online, you get banned. It can take a few months, but it happens. Only way to avoid bans is to avoid cfw or to avoid going online when any kind of cfw is used.

If you have a second switch, you can trade locally the pokemon from the offline CFW switch to the offline legit switch without fear of being banned online when you reconnect the legit switch to online. Then it's just a matter of working out the logistics.

Also, all the banning questions are answered in the pinned thread:

Thanks mate!, if i may ask which cfw (if you use it at all) do you personally use?
also say i get banned on one switch, would i still be able to trade locally to the other one?

You should check the link above for asking questions about such things, but I vaguely remember you can trade locally on banned switches.Don't hold me to that though, definitely check out the pinned post.

I'm personally still working on it :P I got a SXpro but it was a lemon. So I figure atmosphere or something when I can get around to setting it up.

so this is just an idea, and in no way i am actually telling someone to go do this,
but would it at all be possible for someone to use cfw software to "jerryrig"/"trick"/"spoof" a modded switch into having falsified and fake specs?.
if you are banned you can just copy your data to a new switch and then go on using online services. so clearly i wasnt banned like other people [where they had their nintendo accounts banned].
this made me think that perhaps bans were tied to serial numbers of units and the games used. if nintendo bans a console then it has to be something specific about that console that prevents it [and only it] from going online.
its not the wifi, username, or id. as those can be used on another system and you wont be banned. so the only thing that maybe could be cluing nintendo in to people could be serial numbers.
so what if someone could use a cfw to create a self contained switch setting hat included a custom faux serial number and console info? if someone could do this then the user would come across as if they were simply using a different switch and thus not be banned from using online services. of course then eventually they would be banned again, but then all they need to do is recreate another set of faux info.
do i even know what i am talking about here? or is something like this actually possible?
