yes you have a fake, otherwise you have a simple DSTT not DSi compatible !
I have a DSTT I'm putting the MicroSD card into. The DSTTi doesn't work in the DSLite slot 1, you know.
And I won't repeat myself. It's not a fake.

on the market you can find DSTTi close to Genuine, but not 100% genuine, the firmware start and block
and kill your fake DSTTi...

Please open it, and give me some picture of the hardware of your DSTTi

Where on the SD card do I put these files.. in the game folder just as a normal game? Read that someone got an error and got a answer that he should put the dat files in the ttmenu folder to get the update rom working. Or can I just put all 4 files in the game folder and run the update that way?

I don't think I can open it without permanently mangling it.

Is there another way to tell if it's fake or genuine. Opening it isn't an option.
P.S - It does have the faintly shiny DS icon behind the text of the card.

if it is a genuine, the upgrade process will work directly, so, you have your answer, no?
Aren't you helpful.
It mentions that the card version needs upgrading.
It is 1.17 right.

i was messing with the dstti upgrade tool and noticed sometimes it says its not supported then when i restarted it ran....what the heck is with that?

also trying to flash or replace the actual chip holding the dstti fake card bios/boot loader/firmware whatever you wana call it. and replacing with official firmware.

EDIT: i also heard at least 20 people msg me on another site about this not working as it either says unknown or says installed when didn't do a thing....somethings up as i saw there cards all 20 and only 4 were fake.

DSTT and now, DSTTi are the flashcard most copied on the earth

So it's normal to have a fake or a none 100% genuine !!!

if the seller know where he order his DSTTi = no problem...

But here, many people only want low low price and buy anywhere,
and after that they come to complain because hardware upgrade dont work!

Sorry for you guys... Maybe next you will put 1 or 2$ more for an original one!

This advice is for any flascard!

Actually, I did buy a genuine one, got it checked, and paid at least $50 for it.
Please stop assuming.
