An update for MemChunkHax will take time and also last "NATIVE_FIRM" Process9 prevents downgrading so you will need to wait for a new way to downgrade unless you use Hardmod.

Sorry for the n00b question, but what is exactly the difference between a primary and secondary exploit? I screwed up at the very end while following the homebrew tutorial. I even have the OTP, but in on of the steps after I restored the wrong nand backup and the only way to restore the 3DS was to go into rescue mode and update it to 11.x. To re-install al9h, would I need a primary exploit or would a secondary exploit suffice?

Primary: You don't need another homebrew exploit/hardware to actually use the exploit
Secondary: You need another homebrew exploit/hardware before you can use the exploit

Ex:
Primary: Browserhax b/c all you need are the files in your sd card, a working browser, and a compatible firmware
Secondary: Oothax b/c you need to inject the exploited save into the game through homebrew or use Powersaves to inject it

A primary exploit doesn't require any additional software or hardware (e.g. browserhax), whereas secondary exploits do (e.g. OoThax).

I may be wrong on this, but if you're on stock 11.0, I don't believe you can install A9LH, even if you already have the OTP, as you'd need to be on 9.2. But, once again, I may be wrong.

11.0 Removes what exploit Method? I haven't been up to date with the update and what exploits it fixed.

11.0 fixes every software exploit that was discovered in time for Nintendo to produce 11.0, and can be fixed.

Most of them can be worked around, but one thing that can't is that installing certain titles is checked against a hardcoded list, so you can't downgrade unless you have a full arm9 exploit (at which point you won't need to downgrade anyway).

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Unless I'm misunderstanding, what's so horrible with releasing primary userland exploits? It's not a kernel exploit and still won't allow piracy, but just makes it so much easier to use userland hax.

If you release the exploit, Nintendo will patch it.

If you wait to release the exploit, there will be more vulnerable versions before Nintendo patches it so more people will have a chance to use it.

(Of course, this problem isn't unique to primary exploits, but primaries are more important.)

Nice plutoo is back at it again, at least who updated there console( dont know why) get a chance on homebrew.
accidents happen.

also if primary exploits don't require a game or other stuff needed to aquire right?
secondary ones are like oothax and ninjahax and such require a game conjunction to work?

I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

@Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
